they dont get softer, its just that the bass takes up most of the avaliable space in the frequency spectrum, try panning each bass part left and right, as well as turning the volume down on them.

On my Daw, im able to insert tracks... and arm them to record from any Input I have avaliable. Im Using Reaper, which is a free DAW. I would imagine that your daw would be capable of this. On the same " tab " where you adjust your pan, and volume, you should be able to choose what input you are...

cool cool, thats kind of what i was looking for. So the threshhold needs to be set around where the audio is peaking. Attack is how fast it is effected. Release is how long the compression lasts... The ratio is how much above the threshhold is compressed?..am i on the right track?
