    CD cover - feedback welcome

Not sure why you think the album name has to be a song from the album. Alot of times it is a line/phrase from one of the songs on the album. Take the Rush album, "Hold Your Fire", which is the first line of the song "Mission" "A Show of Hands" is a line from "Prime Mover" (which is from the HYF...

    Effing Elixirs!

If the G string breaks soon after putting it on, call up Elixir. They will UPS a G-string for you. I've done this maybe three times since I started using Elixirs back in 1998 (on ~6 different guitars) Now don't abuse this or they'll put you on the "Don't sell Strings to this guy" list :)

    How to mount acoustic foam???

T-Pins! http://www.hobbico.com/tools/hcar5100.html If you are hanging them on drywall, these should do the job.

    Any Compact Flash experience here?

So how are you going to run the PC for the recording? Boot the O/S off of flash memory as well? Honestly, I think your drives would be fine.

https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=238047 ???? Why did you repost the same question AFTER folks were trying to help you (of which you ignored some of our questions as well) ?????

    Vocal effect box

So why not take the time learn how to mix down properly? What's the hurry? How are you recording? If you are using some sort of software on the PC, there are a ton of decent free reverb plug-ins (freeverb is pretty decent).

    Vocal effect box

As all mics need a preamp, you'd go from the output of a pre into the input of your reverb unit (I have an old Alesis nanoverb which would work as well as the PicoVerb). Then out of the reverb unit into your recording device. Why do you want to record WITH reverb? BAD IDEA! You should always...

Rick Ruskin in California - 2007

How about a house concert in Phoenixville? :) Seriously, have you considered doing anything at Acoustic Roots/Medley Music in Bryn Mawr (Larry Broido's shop) ? Still using that Great River MP2 you advised me on seven years ago :-)

    How Bout A Jump Drive?

Good point on where you can use the jump drive. I don't think my Toyota has a USB port....It does have a CD player though :)

    How Bout A Jump Drive?

I would think that wouldn't be very cost effective. CD-Rs can be had for 5-10 cents. The cheapest jump drives I've seen are around $10 or so.... Maybe if you buy them in bulk? Or are you saying print your band's name on them and give them away much like other branded stuff (T-Shirts...

Best sounding album you have ever heard?

There's alot of great sounding "new" stuff that isn't on the "charts" (I couldn't even name a song on any of the charts today) Richard Shindell's stuff always sounds great. John Jennings does some great stuff (listen to Tracy Grammar's Flower of Avalon) and Matt Rollings (played piano on...

New site for my home studio...FEEDBACK???

Honestly, it made my head hurt. There is quite a bit of colors clashing (like someone else has mentioned), and some text is hard to read. Also, nothing grates me more then page titles like "Untitled", "New Page 1", "Website Template" Sorry to be harsh, but if this is your business, you want...

    Cover Songs Legal Issues

Completely wrong.... You might not get caught, the artist probably won't find out, BUT the original poster was asking about doing this properly (I would think by the use of the word "kosher", they wanted to keep things completely LEGAL)

    new to getting gigs

Have you been going to open mics? That's a good way to get started. Try to get a following, then perhaps you can get picked up as an opening act by some folks who also got established that way. I know of quite a few Philly folks who got started this way. Where in the Bay area do you live? I was...

    Control Surface

Alot of great SLR lenses got whacked as well. I believe Canon had a 200mm f/1.8 that was a great lens. I'm a Pentax user, and I believe some Pentax lenses were victims as well. Stupid lead, as long as you aren't licking the thing, it should be fine, right? :D

Rick Ruskin in California - 2007

DOAH! I just spent the last two weeks in Sunnyvale! On Thursday evening, I was sitting at the SF Airport waiting for the 10 PM redeye home :-( I also didn't realize that Gryphon was in Palo Alto, I would have loved to stop by there! Not to mention Eric's shop in Tiburon.... Oh well, Rick -...
