Hi, I use a Focusrite 6 USB preamp to record my trombone. First question; What is "headroom" Second, I use an apex 205 ribbon mic. I have to turn the preamp nearly to full. When I blow "mf" its ok sound. When its louder the sound turn out to be a little muddy, not so clear anymore. Any tips?
First of all, sorry my spelling. My question is what you do when you mix a music recording. I bet you try to make it sound as natural as possible. Make it serve the musical aspects, the musicians aspects and make the point ready for the listener to understand as clear as possible. How much do...

just set "http" in front of it. What do you think. Should I keep the trombone and sell my mics?
Thanks for tips. I found the C-1000 to be OK or better if I set the distance some longer away. At home I have 2 Apex 205 ribbon mics. Made in China, but this are extremely good. They catch a clearer and fuller sound both low and high. Very nice for my trombone. The Focusrite preamps also help I...

Yes I belive so. Very short this is the equipment I have at the music school I teach. The recording was OK. I did one change. I brought my Saffire 6 usb preamp. The sound from the behringer into the computer was very noisy. I also have ribbon mics at home but they stay there. I dont want to...
Is it possible to use recording/mixing/mastering technique to make "great result" out of very good musicians/performance, with no high end equipment? Let us say two C-1000 mics, Audacity free frecording software, a cheap two channel mixer, Behringer. Piano and vocal. In a little but good...
Thanks again. Look like listen is a keyword in all aspects of music? I try to "tune" up my ears and try out some things. Its easy to go "blind" and do too much? Anyway thanks for help.
(Its bass trombone)

Hi, I record solo trombone. Can I ask some questions? My equipment is One Apex 205 ribbon mic. One Shure 58. And I plug them into a Focusrite USB 6 Saffire device. My room is small and dry and I stand about 2 feet from the mics with the trombone bell pointing a bit down. I think thats the best...
