When using the Delta1010 with pro tools 7.4, I've noticed that the maximum setting for the buffer is 1024. I know that both pro tools m-powered and the Delta1010 card are capable of buffer settings of 2048. I'm wondering if anyone has any idea why this would be or if anyone else has...
Hey, I just recently got the Blue Kiwi. I have been testing it out, and have noticed an intermittent noise. When I first set up the mic I tried using the kiwi cable that came with it and right off the bat it had this noise. I turned off the preamp tried a different cable, the noise instantly...
I actually went back to using the Beta 52 since it doesnt have this noise. I'll have to see if I can find somewhere else to host a wav file since the mp3 really isnt that great of a representation anyway.
I've been noticing a chattering noise on my close mic (D6) for the bass drum lately. It sounds almost as if when you bury the beater into the head and it vibrates, although I always let the beater come back and never bury it into the head. I'm going to try the beta52 and see if it helps if not...
Yeah, I wanted to leave the mix as close to natural as possible. One concern I had was it sounds slightly cloudy, and was wondering if anything else stuck out to anyone. Thanks.
Hey, just finished tracking this song (theres a snippet of it posted). Other than the snare being compressed some, the mix is raw. Let me know what you think about the song/mix. Thanks.
Here's the link It's listed as Mix1

I love the sound of the toms. What kind of drums are they? Sizes? Heads?(batter and resonant)
I'm not sure I like the tone of the bass drum. The attack of it seems emphasized at a wierd frequency. Seems maybe too mid heavy.
The best placement I've found for the D6 is just inside the hole in the resonant head facing straight forward. Don't angle the mic at the beater. With this placement I get a nice punchy bass drum sound, not too clicky.
An idea for the snare would be to get one of those pads that you strap on your knee and slap a cheap trigger on to that. Not sure how you would do the rest of the kit though.
I would save for the K Custom. I have the 20" version of that ride and love it. it's dry but not too dry and the bell cuts but also sounds very musical, its not just a ping.
Pick up a D6 for the kick and you won't miss that 52 on the bass drum. I've never since reached for the 52 on the bass drum other than maybe to blend the two. The 52 actually makes a surprisingly nice second mic to capture the click of the beater.
The pro25 is an awesome floor tom mic, and I'm finding it tough to beat the m201 on the snare. The beyer M420 is my next choice for the snare, especially that coupled with an mxl603.
I say you use a moongel also. Try dropping the tuning of the top head lower than the bottom also, that tends to work the best for my snare. You get more of a slamming attack and punch it seems when you lower the top head.
There really is no need for triggers if you use mics on each piece of the kit, as long as you have a program that can convert audio to midi. You just convert audio tracks to midi (using something like the convert audio to score feature in logic)and you have the same info you would get from the...
