been using a MOTU 2408 on a PC for a while now and it runs fine in XP, prior to that was fine in 98. never relied on manufacturer support for anything so cant comment on their level of aftercare...just balancing the viewpoints.

What size monitors are you using?

Encountered the switch box shadowing at work when we used CRT's. if your Monitor has a BNC out you can hook that up to your 2nd PC and switch using the VGA/BNC switcher as well as the switch box...means pressing buttons twice but you get better quality.

What size monitors are you using?

i run dual 18inch NEC LCD's at 1280x1024 Matrox G400 32MB AGP card. probably been discussed before, genereal rule is buy a dual head AGP card, you can get away with a second PCI card but this can cause problems by adding more traffic to your PCI bus so its a trial and error situation. no added...

    Optimising Windows

the overhead on a P4 Northwood compared to a 450 when running plugins in Logic is significant enough for me to say its more than a 100% performance increase. i'm open to examples that say otherwise but i'm only speaking from personal experience both at home with daw's and at work with trader PC's.

    Optimising Windows

all these things mentioned are tweaks of some kind no matter how insignificant they seem. one thing to note is the more powerful your computer the less you have to do to get it running perfectly. if your running Win XP/2000 on a P3 450 for example you'll notice the significance after a long...

    Optimising Windows

there are always optimizations available as no OS is designed specifically for audio, so they arrive with running services and applications that can be switched off to increase performance for your chosen application. 2000, XP Pro, 98 etc. not one of them was designed for a specific...

Do you really buy that expensive recording software?

its morally wrong, you'll go to hell for downloading it. your taking money from development of the software companies. if your gonna argue the point at least be real. software companies care about the people who buy their software? the recent aquisitions of various software companies by...

    Logic Audio Forum

are there any favourable reviews on the behringer truths out there?

yep, my friend bought them for his home setup and says they do the job well and were a steal for the price. £285 in the UK. he uses Genelec 1030's in his studio as well as large Tannoy main monitors so thats what he's comparing to.
