i have been thinking about getting a patch bay because my outboards are starting to pile up.. anyways, the patchbay is cheap enough, but i was told i would need balanced cables for every connection. is this true? or does it just depend on the outboard? also, i wouldnt be plugging and unplugging...
i bought a 1/4" splitter (turns one 1/4" into two 1/4"). what i wanted to do was run a guitar through 2 heads at once, or possibly run one direct in and one into a head. this seems fairly obvious to me (...a little too obvious..) could this mess up the guitar someway from pulling too much power...
one of my favorite cngineers/producers, kurt ballou was inquiring on gearslutz about the 'fat bustard' summing mixer. i have never really heard of a summing mixer. i imagine its what you run your final mix through to get a little more of... whatever you're looking for??... am i right? wrong? ...
i had two firepods (fp10s) one died 6 months after i got it, the other a couple days ago. i am unfortunately not able to upgrade to any apogee gear at the moment, and need something reliable and compatible. the best for my situation i have found is the profire 2626. i use logic7 with a 10.3.5...
i have 2 firepods (fp10's). the first one crapped out right after the first year. the second one has worked on and off the whole time. last night all i could get was 'the previous audio interface is not available'. i use logic 7 on a 10.3.5. very annoying. i checked around and none of the tips...
i was wanting to get a pair of 414s to use for overheads and guitars.. but $2000 is rather hefty for me right now, i then saw the 214's priced around $650 a piece. can anyone enlighten me on the real world differences between them for overheads and heavy guitars? how many options and...
i wasnt quite sure how to label this question.. i run logic 7, i have a few outboard pieces but i mainly use logic plug-ins. i have picked up little tid-bits here and there about plug-ins going in certain order when you use them, but no definate rules or guidelines on what order they should go...
i just got a 5150 today.. super excited. i want to check it out but i dont have a cab to mic up, so i was just wanting to run it straight to into my preamp. i am very weary of destroying equiptment. i'm assuming i should have the preamp at line level.. question is the only out i can find on the...
i have been tinkering with the idea of getting some emulation plug-ins or possibly neve outboard emulator i have found online.. question is, has anyone messed around with this stuff to know if it makes a big enough difference to spend $700+ or does anyone know where i can hear an A/B of one...
