I'm thinking about buying an Aria Sinsonido bass. I tried one out, mostly for fun, and it felt really good. The sound is very special (quite acoustical with a lot of fungering noise), but I figure it might add character to the songs. ;)
Question 1: Does any body have this bass? Experiences...
(This is a repost, that last didn't work).
I bought a new rack, recently. Cheap, cheerful and perfectly usable. I think they are made in germany, so they may be hard to find in the states...

The racks are available in a...
I've been looking at using Ableton Live, because I really like how it fits the beat samples to the tempo. Buuut, it doesn't seem usable as a DAW. Things just won't sync properly automatically, I have to resync everything manually, which just takes too long.
So, do you know of other software...
For my venture into digital recording land, I'd just be interested in hearing your opinions on these two.
I really like Abletons pattern-based attitude, and it's support for automatically stretching and pitching beat samples to fit. Very nice. Sure, it's more expensive but I got a bundle...
I've been grokking around everywhere to find recommendations, but I can't find many on the things that I'm looking for.
I want a 24/96 sound card. Stereo only, pliis. And I'd be happy if it is external, because my computer seems to have a lot of EMF issues on the inside.
Recommendations?
Does anybody know a place that sells new tape heads? And I'm not looking for replacement heads for anything. This is new stuff, not replacement. :)
I also would like circuits, either complete, kits or just the drawings, for the electronics of a tape recorder.
This is to check the feasability...
Despite it's name, we named it Ho Chi Minh if I remember correctly, this was one of the dearest pieces of equipment of a band I was in at the beginning of the 90's. It belongs to the singer, who happens to be the same guy that you can hear on my song in the HR.comp vol II. (Buy it. NOW!)
Since...
Order the comp CD. Yes, really, you'll learn a lot. I did, and I'm not even a newbie!
The best bucks you have ever spent, really. And there are some great stuff on there too!
OK, time to do something that I should have done a long time ago. Ask you guys what stuff you have used to record the songs on the Homerecording.comp volume II CD. Of course, anybody that wants to can give their list (I will) but there are some recordings which I wanna know more about...
Don't miss this babe! OK, obviously it will rise in price at least 4 times by the end of the sell, but a reall all-tube plate reverb? How cool is that!

OK, the first impression is that it's a bit dirty. The second is the realization that the colored caps one some buttons are missing. Searching in the packaging and on the floor I find two of them and realize the have dropped off in transportation.
Why, oh why can't germans pack stuff properly...
Unique sounding monosynth. Once in a lifetime deal. Well, almost. Once a year, maybe. :) It's totally cool, and sounds like nothing else.

It's in fine shape, I think one or two of the caps on the knobs is off, other than that it's good condition, at...
Now that I have my Tascam mixer on the way, the next step is to mak my studio ALL analog. And then I need: A plate reverb! :)
Not only is in 115V, it's local pickup only. I guess I have to pass on this one. Probably sounds like shit anyway. :)...
I've bought a Tascam too! :) It's an M-2524. It's in Berlin, so it costs me tons and tons in shipping, but all in all it's still below 650 euro, so I think I got an OK deal.
The more I've learned about the differences between analog and digital, the more I have been forced to this conclusion: Analog rocks, because it sounds "bad". ;) Or rather, it sounds *inaccurate*.
When recording to tape, you will typically get a bit of tape compression, becuase you are pushing...
