    Question for composers

Hey guys (and gals), Reading music is one thing, but transcribing a composition of yours to score is quite another. I have faced the dilemma I'm in now, several times in the past years, and always end up working out the issues on my own, painstaking as they are. QUESTION: What might be the...

How - how can one voice, LIVE, sound like several people?

I'm wondering how to achieve the group, or gang sound, singing various lines of a song, coming from one person (1 mic) during a live performance. I do happen to own a Digitech Studio Vocalist that can add 4 additional voices over the original, but quite honestly have never used the equipment...

Sound - has everything to do with the quality of your PA

Everybody who listens to a sample, or raves about the sound of their Ivory II samples, or whatever electronic instrument, may not be experiencing sound assessment rightly. This post is about quality of sound, not music. If you don't invest in an awesome PA, you just don't know what you're...

Trying to find website that displayed the curve for K2500 or K2600 FUNs

Years ago, there was a website where you could recreate the Math curve for Kurzweil FUNs, and it was incredible. I lost the website. It was an exact replica of the FUN screen editor, except after selecting your input options (A and B), it would then show you the mathematical curve (or graph)...

Why won't Sonar 3.0 save certain edited information in some GM files?

I figured it out. They were GM Type 0 files. When I converted to Type 1, then all the labels I had edited for Track names got saved, whereas before, as Type 0 GM, the edited names were not being saved.

    Fixing / Upgrading Kurzweil K2500

Joe, Couple of questions, first. Did you get the Owner's Manuals when you bought it? Does the floppy drive still work fine? You may be right that the the latest OS for the K2500 is 2.8, but I thought it was higher. I know that in mine, the Boot Objects are 5.0 and 4.3 for some various...

Help - programming my patch for VH - JUMP

Analog programming help needed. Here's what I have so far, without going into particulars on the actual patch (which sounds dead-on), I'm having problem with distortion when I play the octave in the Left hand, while also playing the right hand. But if I only play one of the two notes in the...

I had stated in another thread that I would upload my first ever MP3 to this site regarding a song I was entering in a contest. This began over a discussion about songwriting. Here's that thread to which I refer: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=285663 And here' the link to my...

MIDI files don't play in Windows Media Player

Hey guys, I'ts been a few years since I tampered with all this stuff, and I've forgotten some things. Help please? I want to start using Sonar III again, and have an Audiophile 2496 sitting side by side a Creative Labs Audigy in my Dell XPS tower. Back in 2004, I remember that I had to...

    Rights question

I penned some lyrics to a song a couple years ago, and named it "Wyle Coyote". Is this legal, doable? Can you reference a trademarked cartoon character and reference it or build a song around the character? Thanks in advance for any knowledgeable input.

    Intelligence and excellence

I just finished writing a long post, and it got lost by error. Disappointed, I went browsing the internet. Discovered the following, which in many ways, summarizes my lost post. - - - - - - There is a columnist who writes for the Asia Times under the Nom de Plume of Spengler. He is, quite...

    Kurzweil K programming help needed

I cannot figure out how to assign a Note number to my foot continuous controller from Setup mode. Looking in the manual, if I enter "37" from the numeric keypad into the value for the continuous controller 1 while in Setup mode, that assigns "KeyNum" for the destination. Fine. But then how do...

Kurzweil PC3 reviewed in Keyboard Mag 12/08

Keyboard magazine just reviewed the Kurzweil PC3 and gave it the ultimate thumbs up. They could not say enough good things about it. The only keyboard which could do something more was the OAYSIS which costs several thousand dollars more. Interestingly, Kurzweil happened to run a new ad in...

Who is playing Lead guitar on

1975, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band - "Live Bullet". Is Bob Seger playing those awesome leads on Travelin' Man or is it Drew Abbott? I've been searching credits on the album, but no designation as to who actually assumed lead vs. rhythm. Any ole' timers out there who would know for...

Question regarding MAC & Garage Band

I'm being asked a question by someone over the internet, and do not know the specific answer. I am not sure what kind of Apple or MAC he has, but he does have Garage Band on his computer, and also USB port. He wants to use it to play a MIDI file, and drive his MicroKorg. Can a USB/MIDI...

    MIDI Sequencer question

Question: I'm sequencing in the Kurzweil K2500XS, but I'm not sure that my question bars answers from other machines, so have at it, please! MIDI 123 is the ALL NOTES OFF command sent on all MIDI channels. I'm wondering if placing a Controller MIDI 123 command at the very beginning of all...
