Everyone is raving about these plug-ins...Can someone PLEASE BASH the UAD-1 Plug-ins? I need an excuse for not bying them...It's the way the look isn't it? That set's em above the rest....is it not? :)

Is there anyone here with experience that has had the chance to A/B test any A/D converters and soundcards? Could you describe the difference in sound....are we talking a "tiny inch" or "my mom can hear it" ?

I am about to purchase my first pair of SDC's so i had a look at www.thomann.de and found they have some super-cheapo prices...one pair cost 60£ and the other 100£ !! That means the luxury pair cost 100£ which is the same as ONLY one MXL603...it's gotta be worth it??

I want to record myself playing piano and singing. 2 Mics on the piano 1 for voc. and 1 in the room. So I got four 1/4 cables in my hand and I want to stick them into a soundcard and press REC... Is the Emu 1820M the only way to go? Or will one of the cheaper M-Audio's do the job?

I record myself, often just piano and vocals with a figure 8 pattern...(or guitar and vocals). What would a "proffesional" do to it when mixing the wav.? What can you really do when it comes down to it? (if you only have free plug-ins :)) What about stereo-emulators? I think they sound creepy...

I bought a "M-Audio Tampa" from the US, and since I live in Europe, I bought a power converter (120v-220v). However, on the box it says: WARNING: Do not use with TV, PC, VCR and things with electronic circuitry. What will happen if i try it out? Is there a risk here? Thank You
