Does anybody use or used to use Groove Tubes Model One mics?

Once UPS delivers it I will be if the original owner hasn't already. I know he put a NOS Brimar black plate from Bowie (@ GS) in it. It is due by end of day. :) :guitar:

    My new AKG 391's RIP

:laughings: I'm laughing sympathetically, but you just don't hear stories like that too often. Poor guy.

Does anybody use or used to use Groove Tubes Model One mics?

The one I just bought predates all of this. It is a different product (both parts and design) than the Alesis/GT venture, so I'm curious to hear how it sounds. During this period, GT came up with the Model One (later renamed as "MD1") and then subsequently the MD2 and MD3, the latter two with...

Does anybody use or used to use Groove Tubes Model One mics?

The Alesis era Groove Tubes get some decent write-ups but I think the overall design was drastically different on those. I'm looking forward to hearing this one. My only GT experience was with a tube mic at GC about a decade ago when I spend a couple of hours auditioning mics. I forget the...

    Are real drummers "extinct?"

I don't think they write their own material, either.

    Are real drummers "extinct?"

This thread makes me think of this video clip. Buppa Po posted this at A+A so he gets credit for it. Funny, though. All-robot band plays Motorhead's 'Ace of Spades'

71 JMP - screws for backplate

It does. So between your two Marshall heads you're in amp heaven. Really impressive if that thing has the original tubes still in it. It looks very low mileage from the pic.

Does anybody use or used to use Groove Tubes Model One mics?

After a lot of research and reading I decided to buy one. Like anything else, it seems there are lovers and haters of them. I would like to use it for vocals, but have heard they sound great on guitar amps so I guess we'll see once it gets here. Pretty expensive for an amp-only mic, though...

    Are real drummers "extinct?"

This ^^. On the Gear Page someone once asked about amplifiers and whether they would replaced by modeling technology. But then how far is the guitar (or other instrument) itself from replacement and errors in fingering and fretting and picking at that point? If you keep eliminating the...

71 JMP - screws for backplate

Fuuuuuuuuck me. Nice score, man! I have an '82 2204 but the backplates and screws are likely different. The blackplate on my head is a simple piece of sheet metal with holes on a 45 degree grid pattern. If this sounds like yours, I'll measure/photo them for you. They are the originals.

What exactly is wrong with Behringer brand mixers?

Certainly in some cases and if you gradually shift production to an existing manufacturer inflation will eventually catch up to your current profit margins. But until then, there can be a lot of money saved by overseas manufacture that can be unaccounted for. I give you the Harman group as a...

    control room 14x12

Here is a 12'x13.5' control room with a high ceiling. Nothing too fancy but the peak ceiling (vaulted) is about 9-6": cloud over mix position (unseen), treatment behind monitors and on the back wall, bass traps in corners and treatment floor to wall every 2' o.c.(unseen).

The studio is 100% complete, including acoustic treatments! Been a long time coming!!

Agreed, it was a little hard to soak in the visuals, but nice job, New Guy. Looks great!

What exactly is wrong with Behringer brand mixers?

Weren't the original Berri comps non-Asian manufacture? Kind of like the Mackie products. I remember when Mackie was considered a great product which is why I bought a 24.8 and it has been a great board to me. And this is the same with a lot of other brands until they send manufacturing...

    Playing what you like

When I played professionally, we used a booking agent. They required a set list, equipment list, and promo photo to market and book you at clubs. There was a 'bread and butter' set list most rock clubs expected but you could always throw in some originals or a few off-the-beaten-path songs as...
