    Another Akai MG1212.......

Yes. That's what's happening when I push record. The rec LED blinks. Recording starts when play is pushed. What do you think about using 2 buttons for stop? I guess I could live without the stop function on the remote. I mainly want somthing to trigger the record function when I'm not by the...

    Another Akai MG1212.......

Well it's almost done. Got hold of an 8 pin DIN. But can't seem to find a double gang switch for stop. The play, record, rewind and foward functions work. Pretty cool. Pretty crude. I have 2 extra buttons on the box. One was gonna be for stop and the other pause. I can't seen to find the pin out...

Once again, thanks a ton. I guess i'm gonna have to get an * pin DIN then. I though the middle pin wasn't utilized. That's why I thought the 7 pin I have would work. So you're saying all the function buttons except stop, have to be connected to the sheild wire also? As for the stop switch...

    Another Akai MG1212.......

I just found a 7 pin that was on an old commodore power supply. 7 pins, no center pin. So this should work. Still a little confused. The board on the akai remote seems to have 2 contacts where the stop button is. There are 7 buttons on the remote, but pin seven doesn't seem to correspond with...

Too bad they don't make a universal remote that would work with that. I just picked up some momentary switches. Unfortunately, the store didn't have any 8 pin DINs. They had 3,5,6 but no 8:( I also got some cable and a project box. I do have a 5 pin DIN plug that fits into the akai. I thought...

    Another Akai MG1212.......

Thanks a bunch for this. Looks like i'll spare the fostex control panel and I'll take a trip to the local electronic supply and see if I can round up the parts to make one.

    Another Akai MG1212.......

Ah ha. Okay I really don't know how these things work. I was thinking maybe each of the pins on the DIN connector were wired to each function button. I guess it;s not a easy as replacing the 12 pin din on the fostex with an 8 pin for the akai and wiring up to the functions. I opened it up, but...

And if you want to watch something, these DVDs are a good watch. They are a little dated, but it deals with tape. Lots of info. Welcome to FIRST LIGHT VIDEO PUBLISHING

    Good books about magnetic recordings?

It can apply to different track counts. They just use a four track as an example. Very good book!

Okay. Thanks One quick question. Do you record a control track while your laying down tracks, or do you just record a control track on the tape, beggining to end and then start to record your tracks?

Oh I know. It would be nice to have one though. I have one for my 388 which is mounted on the wall beside my drums so I don't have to get up and run back and forth. Making one sounds interesting.. By the way....Seems like I'm having some issues with the counter on this one too now. I thought it...

Another Akai MG1212/ MG1214 This one is white and grey! Just picked this up yesterday. It was on kijiji. Had my eye on it and waited a while to make an offer. He had it originally for $350 canadian, then lowered it to $250. I put an offer of $180. Didn't want to go up to $200. I bought it...

    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Love the 60's drum sound. They sound distant, but not buried. Did you just use room mics? Cool tune.
