Seven:-
An acoustic handmade for my uncle (which was my first guitar)
A Cort electro-acoustic for gigging, which I've also put a single coil soundhole on so that I can play it as an electric.
An Ozark Korean steel resonator practice and studio only as it has no pickups fitted.
A Jay Turser...
Not sure whether this is best here or in the computer recording section.
Has anyone found any VST amp simulators that actually sound good? Before everyone tells me to mic up my amp - I'm just looking feed an electric straight into my interface to get some song ideas demoed without annoying...
Is your 5 year old a metal head? :laughings:
In all honesty this is going to be a bit big and heavy for a small child. I'd try and find a 1/2 sized guitar:
Something like this
or if you really need to go down the pointy guitar route this
Also is there any reason it needs to be electric...
Thanks for the info, gcalcaterra. I'd already concluded there wasn't much hope in getting my 4 year old unit sorted and spashed out on a new tascam interface which I'd been eyeing up for a little while ;)
Still, funny how it seems to be such a common fault.
Does anyone still bother with collecting addresses at gigs?
I've started recently, but I'm struggling to work out how to manage the list. The database software that shipped with my PC seems a bit rubbish - not allowing you to print address labels and all of that. Just wondered if anyone here...
I'm not nearly as experienced as many on here but here's my tuppence worth:
I liked the funky drums at the start, & really liked the rhythm guitar tone. The mix feels a little crowded to me; I'd probably have a play with separating the guitars a bit more by panning one left & one right, or...
Oh and chromatic harmonicas can be in different keys, although they're nearly always C. A chromatic harmonica gives you the major scale, and by means of a button on the end can shift any note up a semi-tone. This gives you every possible note, but if you do come across one with a different key...
FWIW harmonica is my first instrument.
I only play diatonic, but if you want to focus on melody playing and aren't worried about not being able to bend notes (NEVER try to bend on a chromatic - it's an expensive mistake!) then you might want a chromatic. It really depends who you want to...
It starts left for 1 bar then pans right for 1 bar, then left then right then centres for the rest of the song. Just thought it might liven up the intro really - trying an idea.
As it happens the guitar was recorded stereo - left is a mic at the f holes right at the bridge. The master...
Attempt #2
With what you guys said in mind, I've taken all the reverb and compression off the individual tracks and put it on the master bus instead, I've also made a small cut to the high end on the master EQ to tame the steel guitar and warm the sound a little.
I also had a little play about...
Well I'm really glad you liked it Dan :)
Something about the overall sound just doesn't sound balanced to me. Although if I could put my finger on what it is I wouldn't need to ask advice!
Hi, I'm bumping this thread because I was about to post almost exactly the same question. I'm looking to record some demos in our regular rehearsal space - a nice sounding function room above a public house. We're a pretty raw sounding heavy blues band so a live in the studio recording seemed...
Sorry, that wasn't very clear. The set up I (and I think many home recordists) use is a hi-fi amp & speakers connected to my PC for monitoring purposes. This means if I want to take a feed direct from the mixer instead of via the PC I can put it on one of the other channels (phono, CD, Tape...
I'm not sure of the ins & outs of this particular mixer but you should be able to create any monitor mix you like using the aux send. There'll be an 'aux' volume control on every channel so it's probably as simple as turning up the instrument you want and down all the others.
Auxiliary...
Hi all. I've been happily using an Alesis IO2 with the bundled version of CubaseLE for three or four years and this afternoon it's suddenly given up for no reason.
There's no sound going into or out of it, and all the db meters have lit up red and stay that way regardless of how any of the...
Well since this thread has already been dug up... I would say Clapton's recent stuff doesn't do a lot for me but everything he did up to Derek and the Dominoes is pretty good. If he chooses to write bland love songs these days instead of playing awesome solos that's kind of his call...
Actually it was the other way around, but I suspect that's related to the fact the the Behringer was new out the box and the SansAmp must be getting on for ten years old.
I thought the dude was just limited to a stand-alone box (ie was recording to some kind of analogue portastudio as opposed to a PC)? It was me who started talking about analogue modellers.. hope I haven't confused the issue.
I couldn't comment on the physical hardware but I have tested mine...
