Behringer makes several rack-mountable mixers at prices that are about 10% of those of the MixWizard units.
You will need to read the "fine print" on the descriptions of the Behringer units, as while they don't look like and may not be described in the "highlights" as rack-mountable, you will...
Look up "Occam's Razor", then implement it at the lowest possible level...
Troubleshooting 101...
The mic "react(s) when (you) tap it or bump it against something".
The case of the mic is omni directional. Which means that the case will react and transmit a vibration to the mic's diaphragm...
Totally bizarre suggestion...
Why not forget the compressor and learn how to properly sing? After all, people did it for any number of years.
Use compression to smooth out a few problems from over-excitement or just hitting it too hard, but don't try to use "gadgets" as a substitute for good...
How can you tell a metal "medley" (which should consist of several separate songs that have been combined) from just a long metal song?
Sorry...just couldn't resist...:D
I have three Behringer mixers, including the 1204 FX USB...
All of them came with User's Manuals, which combined with just a very small amount of research, enabled me to get quite good sound out of all of them.
However, it took me just a little bit more than "five minutes" or "since...
Vis a vis...
... it also has to do with making a vocalist hyper-extending the neck a little bit "up" toward a mic.
Sorry to be so prosaic, but back when I was in radio we used to hang the mics slightly "above" in order to...
Allow one's spit, drool, whatever to run down the throat instead...
I just need to figure out how to capture the drum sound I hear when I play.
In order to have your drum record the sound you hear when you are playing them, you have to forget about the sound you hear when you are playing them.
It's not unusual for drums that give a great recorded sound to...
Okay, dude...
You're going to be stuck for about an eight hour ride.
You'll be able to see amazing colors just by looking at plain blank sheet of paper.
You'll be able to hear the sounds of earthworms breathing, although you probably won't hear the bus that runs over you.
Do not try to eat...
You need phantom power.
So, why would you want to buy a mixer?
Well, you wouldn't.
What you want is something like this:
Behringer MICROPOWER PS400 Phantom Power Supply - Find the largest selection and guaranteed lowest prices at Musician's Friend.
It's got phantom power, which is all you...
No specific product recommendations, but...
Buy high quality, with the maximum number of inputs you can afford.
The be prepared to be a couple of inputs short in...oh...30 minutes...
It's just a tough deal to work that out in a very small space.
And while there is very little comparison between radio announcing and recording a singer other than a mic and a person, I spent quite a bit of time in closet-sized foam-lined announcer's booths and got very nice sounds out of them...
The advice may sometimes be put across in a brusque manner ...
That is the problem...
"I don't think you are going to get very good results with (whatever) but you might be able to do (something else)..." is far more useful than, "You're a stupid motherf*cker and (whatever) is never going to...
And another reduced to nothing but name calling...
And stupidity...I believe even you mentioned "mass" on the vocal booth thread.
While I certainly wouldn't call it practical, suppose you stapled egg cartons in layers, say 16 feet thick. I think you would have some pretty good soundproofing...
I don't even see that you provided any specific solution/help to the OP...so does that mean you too should stay off the thread?
No, because I'm not being negative; I'm trying to encourage others not to be. I offer no "specific solution/help" because I don't have sufficient knowledge to do so...
This is just like the "vocal booth" thread...
Some people really do try to give a cost-effective method of dealing with whatever conditions currently exist.
But there are others here who basically say, "you're such a f*ckup; you must have a room of X size and use this kind of acoustic...
The drum shop I go to has a "beam compass" from an old-school mechanical drawing set. It's fitted with a blade similar to an Exacto knife and cuts a beautiful hole.
I think they'll cut it free if you buy a new head, or maybe for about $5.00 if you bring in your head.
You might want to check...
