Cool Vistallites! I've got a kit too, although mine is just clear, no color. They definatly look cool, but I'm having all sorts of trouble getting them to sound good on recordings. Oh well, I've got my monster all maple kit on the way within the next 2 months!

That matchbox 20 song Unwell is super catchy. That song has it all: A really cool opening riff on whatever that stringed instrument is, great vocal lines, and a killer hook and the melody it's sung to is perfect.

Yep, you just need to put both of the pci cards in your computer and your audio app of choice should automaticly detect both and list 16 channels of input. I also track with Nuendo.

Cool song! Mix sounds fine on my speakers, nicely done. Sounds like you're using the Enigma plugin in the beginning. That's probably my favorite plug out of all the ones I have. So many cool things you can do to audio with it.

Mix two is up, same link as above. I re mixed the entire song, all faders down from scratch. This time I built it more around the drums, the kick especially as it's fairly wimpy and hard to hear. I added more low end to the bass and cut a little mids from the guitars to help them sit better...

Thanks for the responses, they are most helpful. The drums are: Rode NT5s for overheads, 57 on snare, CAD drum mics on toms and kick. The snare is a 14x6.5 from what I can tell. I'm going to take this one apart and start from scratch, and hopefully fix all my problems after I get home from work.

I've recorded this band before and they're always hard to mix, even more so now that they've found a singer. I always find it tricky to mix heavy metal and get everything balanced and right. I hate hate hate this drums the drummer has. He has this godawaful shitty snare with a kevlar head...

At the beginning? You're right, it does sound like an obvious edit, but I'm pretty sure that it's just the 2 guitarists switching from clean to distorted. I don't think I knew how to automate punch-ins way back then, which is the only way we could have done it with me playing drums too.
