Best mic stand for Polka ...

Don't forget to demag the stand threads every once and a while, or else it might disrupt the psudo-magnetic aura around the mic!

Child oriented "how to play drums" book/dvd

Check this out http://www.vintagedrum.com/item/Hal-Leonard-Play-Drums-Today-Drum-DVD-DY-DD198. The music store I work in has these for flute, trumpet, and clarinet, and they look pretty cool. Or you could get him a Terry Bozzio video and lock him in the basement with the dvd and drumset and...

    Conaway drums - opinions please

Ok, here's my take. The drums are quite nice, keller shells as you know. Mine are all maple. The hardware is cheap, one of my tom mounts actually broke as I was putting it on my rack for the first time. The finish on the drums is ok, nothing fancy. I think they'd look alot better if the...

Mix from a band I did today

Thanks for the response. I worked on those things you mentioned, and this second mix is much better as far as I can tell. I did notice the left guitar making clipping sounds, but that's not from something I did. All the guitars were direct, and he must have been clipping from his fx station...

Mix from a band I did today

Hey, just tracked this band tonite, and I'm going to email them a pretty polished mix, maybe not final, tomorrow. My ears are pretty shot, what do you guys think I can improve? I think the toms may need to come down just a bit maybe. Not too many rock bands have Fender Rhodes in them, it's...

    Public Mix Contest #6

I agree, 3 is a good number of judges. Also I think that entries should be encoded at nothing lower than 160. 128 sounds terrible, and it degrades the mix way too much to judge accuratly.

    cymbal crack repair

Yeah, I've had to drill cymbals before. It's usually a temporary soloution. All the times I've done it the crack worked through the hole or around it. You'll buy yourself some time if you need to scrap tgether cash for a new one though.

What is the undisputed best mid level drumset for the buck?

I've got one. It does sound quite nice. The finish is pretty good too, not quite as good as what you'd get from a big name. If you want I can get some samples online. Here's a pic of my kit http://www.conawaydrums.com/newveneers/qmaplekit.jpg. It's kinda a low quality pic, but gives you a...

What is the undisputed best mid level drumset for the buck?

Look at some used kits. You don't have to be limited to new, and you could probably pick up a better used kit for the money than a new one. Or, if you have a little time, make them yourself. It's really easy, and a whole lot cheaper. Most of the name companies use Keller shells. You can buy...
