I have a big problem with RF in my studio. I can hear it through the input on my MP. During tracking! What do I do to control this?

First output the keyboard into something else, like an amp. To see if it's even outputing. If it is, then switch track 3 to the arm position, turn the pre all the way down and try to get signal via the fader. Make sure your in record mode. If the 414 has one.

Are you using software? Or outboard gear w/ a mixer?

Sorry to hear that Jugalo. Try and take it apart and see if you can clean the pots. Go to your elec. store and buy some contact cleaner. If they are not closed pots, then squirt a tiny bit in there, and turn the pot back and forth for a while. I hop everything works out for you.

I think decibals are on an logorithmic scale.

I usually have the singer about 4" fom the mic and have him or her sing right over the top of it. Good performers will vary thier position to the mic according to the song. I usually don't use pop filters unless they need one, which is not always the case.

yeah, I jus tdo the hadphoe thing. Check it out on the monitors, then throw on the headphones. I don't even have enough room for drums.

If I'm in a pro studio doing something for a client, I usually take about 6 hours/song. If I'm at home and at my own leisure, I'll spend maybe a week of listening to it then coming back later and listening some more. I kind of throw up a mix and fine tune it for as long as it takes...

I just found a place where I can get Quantegy 456 tape for about $65. That's not too bad. 16 min/reel. My songs are usually about 3 minutes long, so I can get at least 4 songs on there. My projects are usually drawn out for months at a time/song, so it takes me a while to go through even one...

yes, you really need a new mixer. But you can get started now, if you like. Your situation is exactly like mine a few years ago. I forget if the 1202 has 8 direct outs but if not you can return your signal from tape, into the 8 XLR ins, and use an external pre( I just got a Tube MP) to get...

I mix down to 1/4" 456 tape. Mainly cause I don't have any other means of mixing music to. At least not right now. But I have no complaints. I've heard that 1/2" is the prefered medium with mastering houses.

I've heard the Tannoy actives. Good monitors. I get wary over moniotrs that have alot of punch or color. There are so many different sounding monitors out there. The key is to get the ones that translate the best, not the ones that sound the best in the studio. Of course, those have thier place...
