what do think of the pod?

I think it's OK, I guess. It's good to jam with, but I've seen people use it at shows, and I definatly was not impressed. Maybe it was the preset he was using, but it sounded thin and overly distorted. I think all REAL guitar players have a preference of REAL amplifiers.

    Never buy this f_cking shit

Yeah, the Zoom 234 drum machine is an incredible peice of shit. The sounds are lame and I can't get the thing to record in step mode to save my life. Bought a BOSS DR-770 and solved my problems. Well, some of them anyway. Oh MisterQ. I agree Right Guard deoderant does suck. It gives me a rash...

    hands...question for guitar/bass players

Have you tried masturbating right before you play? Depends on if you play right or left-handed guitar. You may have to switch spanking hands.:)

What order do you process your effects?

All your dynamic gear, EQ's compressors, gates, limiters should be placed on inserts, either within your DAW, or on your console. This will automatically place them before the auxes in the signal chain. Auxes should be used for time-based FX, reverbs, delays....etc. And you can place your...

DAW mixing through a console or inside the computer

I absolutely can't stand mixing within a DAW. It's boring as hell. However, I could easily spend 6-8 hours mixing on a nice board.

    Recording Bass

First of all, I don't think there's anything wrong with micing a bass cab. In fact it's a fairly standard practice in studios to mic AND DI. As for the noise, I think you're already on the right track. I'd just suggest starting at the top of the chain and working your way to the source...

Ever write a song and a day or 2 later realize you just ripped another song off?

That happens to me on a day to day basis. I think the key though, is to never let it discourage you. just say, "Oh well" and laughand move on. The thing I hate is when I show my original peice to someone and they try to catagorize it by referencing it to another band. "Oh yeah, cool! It knid of...

your tips for getting rid of hum and hiss

I agree with Kingstonrock. Learning to set levels properly is the best way to get rid of noise. Unless you have really crappy recording gear, noise shouldn't really be a problem as long as you set levels correctly. Noise from amplifiers on the other hand......

Here's a parody of an old favorite

Oooohhh a corpse is a corpse Of course, of course. And no one can talk to a corpse of course That is of course, unless the corpse is the famous Mister Dead. Go right to the source, and ask the corpse He'll give you an answer that you'll remorse.......... I can't think of any more lyrics. Feel...

    Guitar pedal repair?

I don't know how to fix it, but I'm sure it would be easy enough for an electrician or tech. I don't see it being that expensive either.

    U47

I'd like try the RNP, so I'd probably just go straight through the RNP to the console. I wouldn't compress it unless I had too, or if I was looking for that effect. I usually like to find out what I'm dealing with (basic set-up), then decide if it needs any help.

    I Give Up!

It depends on where you want to go with it. Of course, mastering houses can do a better job than you can, but there is still a place for home mastering. Those mastering houses are expensive, and if you suspect that your song is just going to be handed out to friends and relatives, then you have...

    Satriani or Via?

I thought Striani was kind of cool when I was younger. I guess you're right though, Now that I look back, he was knid of a scale player. Steve Via is REALLY tall.
