    Presonus Eureka Mod

Spoken to the guy a Presonus again and he said that whilst the 5534 is quieter on paper he said there was noticeably less noise when they put the LT1357's in? Am going to find out if the transformer feeds the opamps.

    Presonus Eureka Mod

Thanks for the info. To be honest I'm not really sure what these specs mean? When I was recommended the LT1357 by the guy from Presonus I was told that this would improvement be noise performance? I've actually only just got the Eureka so I don't have any real idea as to what it's capable of...

    Presonus Eureka Mod

I just heard from one of the guys at Presonus and he mentioned that the OPA 627BP is a low noise version of the OPA 627 AP! Would the OPA 627BP be a better option? Is there anything better out there? Does THAT make a drop in replacement for the NE 5534AP? I will hopefully get some TI free...

    Presonus Eureka Mod

I'm going to get some Texas Instruments samples of the OPA 627 and am wondering if the OPA 627 AP is the best option or is there a newer version with improved performance? Here is the TI page :- Precision Amplifier - Low Offset Voltage - OPA627 - TI.com

    Presonus Eureka Mod

Hi mshilarious, Thanks for the reply and info. Just been reading this post and this guy says that the OPA 627's make a noticeable improvement!? From what I've been told the OPA627 is a noisier chip than the LT1357. What I don't want to do is make the Eureka any noisier with the newer chip...

    Presonus Eureka Mod

I was speaking to one of the guys from Presonus who has tried various opamps in the Eureka and he said that the LT 1357 are the quietest ones to use with the Eureka and reduces any noise with the Eureka even more! Will be trying this when the Eureka arrives! Also may try the full Hotrod mod at...

    Presonus Eureka Mod

Which opamps should I use out of the OPA 627 or LT1357? Is there anything better I could use these days?

    Presonus Eureka Mod

I noticed that in the Eureka HotRod they use the Linear Technologies-1357CN8-ND opamp. How does this compare to the Burr Brown OPA 627 opamp? Which would be the best opamp to use in the Eureka?

    Presonus Eureka Mod

Hi, I'm considering pick up a really cheap secondhand one of these because I quite fancy a channel strip to go with my Focusrite ISA One digital, GAP PRE73 and M-Audio DMP3. I'm also interested in hearing various peoples experiences with different mods and whether it makes a big difference?

    Budget Phantom powered Ribbon Mic?

Preamp to do a U87 justice

The DMP3 is actually a pretty good preamp and will do the job but if you can stretch the funds a little further the Focusrite ISA One is a decent preamp at £399. Also, the GAP PRE73 is excellent at £249 and I would pick either of these above the DMP3 for recording vocals 90% of the time!

    Best Mic under 500$

The Blue Bluebird was one of my least favorite vocal mics I've ever tried. I found it way too bright and thin. Mics under $500 that I would consider are SE 2200T, Oktava MK-319, AKG C214, Shure SM7b. The Rode K2 would also be an excellent option if you see one for under $500.

Pre-amp quality on Echo Audiofire Pre-8?

Hi, I had the older Echo Layla 3G which has the same preamps as the Audiofire 8 and the pres were passable but nothing great. The M-Audio Profire 2626 interface is said to have slightly better preamps than the DMP3 and the conversion is a step up from the Delta 1010. I personally love the...

You Personal Favourite Tube Microphone for under 1000.00 USD

I've only used three tube mics :- AKG Solidtube, Apex 460 and SE 2200T. The SE2200T was the clear winner for me.

    opinions on Se 2200T

Thought I would add something about the SE2200T. I've had one for about 6 months which I bought for £150 on ebay. The mic had not even been used and was still in the original sealed packaging!! I've been using this mic more and more recently. I've been using it on a soft female vocal and have...
