I'd be interested to find out how the tone of the WARM AUDIO WA12 compares to the UA Solo 610. Two different types of pre I know but I'm interested to know which offers the thickest and fattest tone?
My UA Solo610 is my goto for bass and I'd be interested to know how the WA12 compares on bass...
Thanks for the replies so far. Yeah the 610 does take off the brittle edge of certain mics a little and I wouldn't want to lose that. I would like something that does a similar job to the 610 but with less noise and something really transparent for the other pre?
I've considered the A-Designs...
Hi,
I'm thinking about replacing my UA Solo610 and Focusrite ISA One digital with one 'higher quality' preamp. I know this can be pretty subjective as to what really is a 'higher' quality preamp.
To be honest, I've been pretty happy with the 610 and ISA for general tracking duties and the main...
From my experience with both pres I preferred the Eureka a lot! The PRE73 I had was noisy. The Eureka was much cleaner and without the noise of the PRE73.
I've since moved on from those pres and now own a Focusrite Liquid Channel, UA Solo 610 and Focusrite ISA One digital. I no longer looking...
Mine has become quite noisy. The noise sounds a little like wind blowing across the mic but of course it isn't. Also, it only happens with this mic. I've tried all my other mics through the same chain and these are extremely quiet. My initial hunch was it was condensation so I stored it in an...
Hi,
I'm looking for another vocal mic to compliment my collection. My budget is around £400. I currently own :-
Neumann TLM102
SE Electronics SE2200T
Audio Technica AT4040
Shure SM7b
Kel HM2d
Rode NT-1a
Oktava MK-319 (faulty)
I don't really like the Shure SM7b and tend to prefer the KEL HM2d...
The UA Solo 610 is a great preamp and would be a good compliment to the pres in the Focusrite Saffire. I have both of these and the Saffire has good clean preamps and the 610 can do the colored vintage vibe.
As for mics the Neumann TLM102 is a great mic (I have one of those aswell) but with any...
I'm quite interested in the LA610 SE and am wondering if any knows how the preamp part compares to the Solo 610? I don't really track through a compressor so am unsure if the upgrade would be worth it? I've got the Solo 610 and find it to be a great pre.
I'm based in the UK but could record some piano tracks and email them to the studio if that would be of use? I use the Garritan Steinway Professional edition, Alicia Keys Piano, True Pianos 1.9 and another piano vst which I'm beta testing at the moment. I also have the Scarbee Rhodes, Wurlitzer...
Hi,
Thanks for the kind words! The vocal clips on my site are quite old and done before I bought the Pro 24 DSP.
My Baby Just Cares was recorded with a Studio Projects B1 into an M-Audio Tampa preamp.
Amazing Grace was recorded again with the Studio Projects B1 into an SPL Goldmike.
Got Your...
I find the Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP to be an excellent interface. I preferred the pres on the Saffire a little more to the DMP3. What interface are you using at the moment?
If I were looking to buy a new outboard pre I would look at :-
Focusrite ISA One digital
True Systems P-Solo
Grace...
I had better results with the ISA One and Eureka over the PRE73. The PRE73 I had was very noisy at higher gain settings!
I would recommend the ISA One.
How would you describe the sound differences between the OneQ and the Eureka? Also, which has the lowest noise/hiss?
I've been reading that some people have found the new OneQ to be quite noisy!? Some have also said it doesn't have enough clean gain but from reading about this pre it has 60db...
