My PERFECT 244 - another Bad Rubber inquiry

Dan == Thanks to your suggestion, I will look for a local U-Haul location to see what that double-walled box costs. I am 100% in accord with your ideas on multi-layer, multi-density packing - and my plan is to provide a "double wall" by packing the plywood crate inside an external cardboard...

My PERFECT 244 - another Bad Rubber inquiry

HaHa. I have an ex-wife, too. :D As Bubba Clinton used to say, "Ah feel yer pain." :laughings: I located both cassettes containing my 244 demos (the full extent of my work with the 244). Six compositions, some unfinished. I have an eight channel firewire preamp for my PC (Presonus...

My PERFECT 244 - another Bad Rubber inquiry

Hey, Don == Thanks a lot for the detailed UPS warning, and congrats on selling your gear. Recently I bought an electric guitar online, but wasn't thrilled with it upon arrival. In trying to decide whether to send it back or not (at my expense) I took it to the local UPS depot. The clerk...

    ACID support for external controllers/faders?

For others reading this thread, Bristol Posse gives TONS of useful insight, and is anything but "vapid uninsightfulness" as his moniker suggests. :D EXCELLENT, HELPFUL PM RECIEVED

    ACID support for external controllers/faders?

Thanks for the report. So SideKick4.1 demo ran fine in XP 32bit and Win7 32bit, but not in Win7 64bit. That's as expected. I didn't realize Acid was not true 64bit yet... QUESTION Since you've been running Acid 6/7 for a while, I figure you might have a strong opinion on this: My PC is a...

How to get Acid7 to UPDATE Plugins list...I have Ghosts

Clarification: SONY's failure to provide a simple, documented solution is what's ridiculous. Your workaround is excellent and much appreciated. Just want to be clear about that.

How to get Acid7 to UPDATE Plugins list...I have Ghosts

It's ridiculous. Almost caused you to do a system re-install, and the process is entirely undocumented. There should be a button in the so-called Plugin Manager. I've got fingers crossed waiting for your SideKick 4.1 report over at this other thread.

How to get Acid7 to UPDATE Plugins list...I have Ghosts

It worked perfectly. I simply deleted the existing file, then restarted Acid Pro 7. Acid regenerated a new version of the file when the program started, and now everything is as it should be. When I dump the old, half-baked sidechain compression plugin I'm using I'll just delete it, then...

How to get Acid7 to UPDATE Plugins list...I have Ghosts

Bristol P == Thanks very much. I did find the file by following the path you provided. For other readers, that path is as follows: C:\Documents and Settings\User (per your system)\Local Settings\Application Data\Sony\ACID Pro\7.0\acidpro.plugincache.xml I'm pretty well versed in Windows XP...

How to get Acid7 to UPDATE Plugins list...I have Ghosts

Hello again, BP. Thanks for the detailed assist. I had already tried the Plugin Manager's Force Rescan as you suggest, but to no avail. I cannot locate file acidpro.plugincache. Setting: Folder Options > Advanced > Show hidden files and folders ON Searched entire C: but found only these...

How to get Acid7 to UPDATE Plugins list...I have Ghosts

I tried some 3rd-party effects plugins that I eventually deleted. I cleared the plugins and their directories (folders) from my hard drive, but the Acid 7 Plugin Manager continues to 'see' these 'ghost directories'... I can't delete them, and right-clicking indicates they're locked.

    ACID support for external controllers/faders?

I concur regarding the mostly unfounded "crippled Acid" rumors online. My first Acid is v7 and I'm amazed at its depth of capability and ease of use (in most respects). I am looking into JBridge per your comments. Does Acid 7 provide built-in support? Quote from jBridge site: "note: hosts...

    ACID support for external controllers/faders?

Excellent follow up. I'll be a'twiddlin' over the weekend thanks to your insights. :D And thanks for the heads up on JBridge. I will try to avoid that if possible, only because I have not a learning curve but a learning mountain range - Acid 7, SoundForge 10, Vegas 9 and Native Instruments...

    ACID support for external controllers/faders?

That's the part where I hit the wall. I couldn't find a way to pan the affected Bus A to center again. And I no longer have a hardware mixer to employ for such things. Sony has resource$ out the wazoo, so this particular software capability should magically appear in version 8, if not sooner...

    ACID support for external controllers/faders?

Thanks for all the information. Too bad Acid Automation forces engagement of the hardware fader automation. Still, as you mentioned in your first post, the latch mode works for basic mixing, and then I might just draw any adjustments into the track volume envelopes using a mouse. A tremendous...

    ACID support for external controllers/faders?

Sorry to be obtuse, but I have zero experience with BCF2000. Am I understanding you to say the following: When you power on the unit, there is an additional button/setting for engaging the automation mode (and its motors). So the BCF2000 can be ON/running, but it's automation can be switched...

    ACID support for external controllers/faders?

Thanks a lot for offering assistance in locating used BCR/BCF2000s. And yeah, I was really surprised to find NO Acid Pro user forums, or any chatter on general purpose music boards. Over at GearSlutz they act like I'm a nitwit for not using Ableton or one of the other Currently Cool Crop. :D...

    ACID support for external controllers/faders?

Excellent. I agree that the BCF2000 vs. the Mackie is a no-brainer. I looked long and hard at the BCR2000 without faders due to 'fadercide' rumors. If I found a deal like yours, I'd buy one right now. QUESTION: Is it possible to turn off the automation in hardware, and use those nice...

    ACID support for external controllers/faders?

Items 1, 2, 4: So are you locked in to running the BCF2000 in Mackie Emulation, or can you map cc (or midi note) values from the BCF2000 to Acid via a general device template? Item 3: I've heard that BCF2000 motorized faders die an early death. Can you provide further insight?

My PERFECT 244 - another Bad Rubber inquiry

Thanks. Yeah, you have enough toys, or at least enough to ping-pong tracks. I hope my local potential buyer takes it. If not, I'll probably try to avoid the Craigslist route. 'Don't want folks tramping through the house if I can help it...:D I will try the Free Ad Forum at Tim's...
