My target is doing one 60 minutes experimental Death Metal song mixed in 5.1 on DVD only. That's basicaly why I'm asking questions about 24/96. I'm basicaly doing this for fun, an experimenting with recording, I already have a career so I don't expect to sell anything. I guess I just want to...

Note that I didn't said perfect gear! hehe I was specifying "right gear" to avoid someone saying "it all depends what gear you're using". Apparently it triggered some confusion anyway hehe And I don't have any of those things also, but it doesn't make me unhappy. Anyway, the perfect gear is...

    Metal: Help deciding on mix

Mix 2 I'd go with mix 2 also... I like that muddier/heavier tone of guitar. Good voice also. Sound a lot like swedish melodic death metal, are your from Sweden? Reminds me of Dark Tranquillity a lot. I know what you mean when you say you almost deleted everything because of discouragement...

    Vegas Pro opinions

Hi I like Vegas a lot. The 5.1 isn't just a plug-in, it's now integrated right into it. There's some plug-ins to do stuff in 5.1 tho. I mainly use it for 5.1 composing. The thing is, you'll need to buy the Vegas+DVD package to be able to export your 5.1 project to AC-3. yes it support 24/96...

    Audiophile 192 vs. 2496

S/pdif I'm n not sure this will help you... Keep in mind that if you manage to plug a 5.1 sound system to your soundcard in S/PDIF or Optical, you will only be able to listen to DVD in 5.1, you won't be able to mix in realtime using softwares which can. You'll need to use 6 discreets outputs.
