New Song "Moving On" - Looking for Mix Feedback

Thanks, Greg, this probably falls under the category of give an inch and take a mile, but if there is any chance you'd be willing to point out the specific spots where those timing issues really bugged you, I'd certainly be grateful. I'm probably too close to this and have heard it too much...

New Song "Moving On" - Looking for Mix Feedback

Thanks squibble, I appreciate that very much. I like the automation idea...and much to my dismay, I just went back and double checked the uke track and found that I DO have a compressor on there, so yeah, I can pull that off for the intro and see if that helps. For the drums, are you hearing...

New Song "Moving On" - Looking for Mix Feedback

Cool to hear that you like your Variax. Yeah, I have to admit, the new JTV59 Variax has caught my eye a little bit. I've been playing a couple of acoustic cover shows a month or so in local watering holes with a buddy of mine, and I usually bring an acoustic and an electric just to mix it up a...

    Amos Moses (re-visited)

I remember when you posted this tune and I loved it then - and I just listened to the new version and really enjoyed it again...awesome job, Rami. Thanks for posting this...no nits...just cool  Best, Dave DeWhitt

Preparing for Mastering - General Guidelines?

Thanks, Tom. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience on this! Best Regards, Dave DeWhitt

New Song "Moving On" - Looking for Mix Feedback

Cool, thanks guys. I am feeling it more with the uncompressed version too. I think I may do one more mix with the BGVs up about .5 dB and then call it done. Hey Chris, thanks for the kind words. Not sure how much detail you want, but you asked, so here goes... :) I use a Line6 Toneport UX8...

New Song "Moving On" - Looking for Mix Feedback

Hey Brad, thanks man. Yeah, I have compression on the individual tracks and I left that alone and just took off the master output compressor. It's a subtle difference (other than the volume) but I think it sounds nicer without. I'm hoping a good ME can take that and work some magic on it...

Preparing for Mastering - General Guidelines?

ok, cool...thanks, guys, these responses make perfect sense and help a lot. Tom, for another dumb question....I'm thinking about that diagram above (which is great by the way, thanks for sharing that!) from right to left. In other words, I'm mixing in Logic and trying to get my meters to peak...

New Song "Moving On" - Looking for Mix Feedback

I just added a link above to a mix without any stereo mix processing. It's not as loud, but sounds better...maybe? :) Best, Dave

Preparing for Mastering - General Guidelines?

Hi All, I apologize if this topic has already been covered here, but I've skimmed through the threads and didn't see anything that directly answered some of my questions, so I figured I'd start a new one. Mainly, I'm just trying to figure out if there are any mixing guidelines that are helpful...

New Song "Moving On" - Looking for Mix Feedback

Thanks Trumpino, I appreciate the feedback. I did pull those BGVs way down...I had gotten really used to hearing this tune with no BGVs at all, just the single lead line, and I really was debating about keeping it simple like that, but then I added them to make the tune more stylistically...

New Song "Moving On" - Looking for Mix Feedback

Thinking a little more about my post above...I guess in hindsight it's kind of stupid to ask for mix feedback and then admit that I've thrown a compressor on the stereo bus and squashed the crap out of it. Maybe I should post the uncompressed track to get pre-mastering feedback? Still...

New Song "Moving On" - Looking for Mix Feedback

Hey, thanks Pete and Dave, I appreciate the listens and the feedback. Pete, I agree about the ukelele...I am not sure if it's the one I bought, the way I'm playing it, or the way I recorded it, but it kind of sounds that way dry - muted and not really ringing out. Not being a ukelele player...

New Song "Moving On" - Looking for Mix Feedback

Hi All, Here is a new song called Moving On that I just finished. I'm looking for mix feedback and any comments are welcome. This is my first time recording a uke, so curious to see if it turned out ok. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10626552 Based on some of the comments below, I...

It's kind of personal now. "Pot Of Gold"

Doh! I'm an idiot, Jason. I listened last night a couple of times and based my comments on one mix back. I'll take a listen to the new mix now and get back with some updated comments. Grain of salt, engage! Best, Dave

    death ray

Love this, and love how you mixed PI's drums in...just perfect for the song. It's got me shaking my head, cause if this was my tune and PI had sent me acoustic drums for it, I just know I would have messed it up in the worst way. You definitely nailed it though...sweet! Great groove, and...

It's kind of personal now. "Pot Of Gold"

I think this is very cool overall, but I'm definitely hearing some of the same thing that Pete mentioned above. I'm thinking it should be an easy fix, just a level adjustment, but not sure... Other than that, wow...you are hitting your creative stride it seems, and this is cool and different...

"Like a Wave" a collab with a new HR member (alba320)

Wow, this is a great commercial tune. I remember hearing this when it was first posted several months ago in the forum. The vocals are major label quality for sure. Brad, your new guitars definitely brought it up a notch too, great job! My shoot from the hip, gut reaction when listening to...

    Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Very nice! I just recorded a uke song myself, but I like your uke tone better than the one I got  No mix nits at all from me, I think you've got this whole recording thing down pretty well :D:drunk: This was a great listen, thanks! Best, Dave SoundClick artist: Dave DeWhitt - page with...
