How to make my mic recoding "blend in" background track?

It was a joke, Greg. Lighten up. You've always strongly advised some of us to leave the cave and become contributing members to HR. I'm trying. Let's be honest here, saying we/I should leave the cave to become contributing members and offering up ridicule when we do is a bit on the hypocritical...

How to make my mic recoding "blend in" background track?

Yes, yes, I know that.......sheesh. It's called reiteration. If it was worth saying the first time, it was worth saying again....perhaps without all the dick wagging. It was damn good advice, if I do say so myself. You guys quit mucking up the op's thread.

How to make my mic recoding "blend in" background track?

To the original poster... Ignore these assholes. The backing recording was likely recorded in a more ideal environment than you have. Don't feel bad, many of us suffer that common circumstance, we don't have an ideal recording space. To help remedy the situation it would probably help by...

Adding veneer to my old bass

It may possible with some care to use a fine toothed file to run along the body/veneer junction w/ long even diag strokes to even things out, w/ care....kind of an old school router method. Then again it might not if the veneer has been chased pretty far over the radius edge of the body top. It...

Adding veneer to my old bass

I would think with the sanding sealer there would be less "back sanding" once a stain(or any type finish) is applied, just enough to knock down the raise in the grain...being veneer, don't want to do too much sanding. I'm sure either way it'll come out nice, it's a beaut piece of wood.

Adding veneer to my old bass

It may be too late, and maybe Muttley can chime in...but, perhaps a Sanding Sealer could be used prior to staining to help seal the pores and prevent the stain from absorbing too much in the finer grain while allowing it to still accentuate the knots?

Adding veneer to my old bass

I can't get the attachment in a quote to do a side-by-side, but.....The knotted grain in that walnut is somewhat reminiscent of this Van Gogh, Starry Night. You can almost see the buildings at the bottom and the mountain(or whatever it is) at the edge behind the bridge  maybe it's just...

Mixing clinic - what can that mean?

lol....I guess I can see what you're saying. I must admit I enjoy listening to postings that are aaalllmmmoooost there, and hopefully I am learning from the comments that are intended to take it further. I'm not sure if i'd learn as much if someone posted a mess, but who's to say. Be careful of...

    Manslick gets Mellow

sweet sentimental little tune, has potential To me it sounds like the drums are lagging behind a bit....or the instrumentation is playing on the front of the beat and repelling things forward while the drums lag on the beat(?). I seem to get the same thing sometimes myself. Couldn't tell you...

Tears And Mascara - the first post-Jongleurs Jongleurs song...

Listened to this the other day, on the 2nd time through got called away, so didn't get a chance to comment. This is really good. The only nit, as has been noted, is the snare. But even at that it isn't bad. You do a heluva job programming...been there, it's a lot of work. Not that i'm anywhere...

    harvesters and drive-bys - a dobro "cover"

Brilliant! :laughings: Since this is already kind of making the rounds credits wise, send it off to Beck and offer partial rights(with clause that not a thing be changed)....get paid. Although I dig your more usual style of offerings, I think this is my favorite yet. :thumbs up:

Please recommend a tascam portastudio for me ?

-to the op or other interested party- I just purchased one of the training DVDs for my Neo. There were a few things I just wasn't getting from the manual, or was too lazy to put forth the effort to understand. In either case, the DVD makes things really simple, broken into sections of specific...

    writing originals vs. playing covers

I think maybe sometimes the ego is more closely associated with choosing to play covers. At least with my experience, and I thnk in most localities it is a common experience, cover bands get more gigs, original bands less. If you want to play out more and get your face-in-the-place, covers are...
