New tune, new monitors, new room

I thought I was listening to the radio for a second. I don't know if you will take that as a compliment or an insult but it sounds like it could be on a clear channel station. The only thing that lets down in the mix are cymbals. Sometimes they seem like you might have a really thick dark...

    carved in stone

Kristian Zuzek - Carved in Stone This is sort of a dual purpose post. This is an initial mix with tracks I think I have to retransfer from my ADATs. I am using a MOTU 2408 mk1 and two ADAT XT20s. Problem is that I think there is a syncing problem. If you listen at around 1:00 I can hear...

Motu 2408 and ADAT XT 20 sync pops

I have just spent the past 4 hours not getting my ADAT to play nice with my MOTU 2408 mkI. This is an ODD issue. I have the latest PCI324 drivers and have tried many configurations. Using the ADAT's clock doesn't work. It gives me an error when i try to press the record button in Vegas 4. I...

For those of you in the San Diego area

When mp3.com was bought recently they decided to liquidate all their assets and that includes a lot of servers, laptops and old dot com sludge. But what makes this different than most dot com auctions is all the audio equipment. Things like a Mackie 8bus and all sorts of tascam DTRS machines...

    I need a 24 channel board w/B mix

lemontree, I recorded in a studio in Portsmouth years ago with a saber and absolutely LOVED it. I would love to have one, but I imagine that they might start needing repairs at this age in their lives.

    My home studio

what popups? http://www.mozilla.org and download mozilla if you want a webrowser and an email client. Or just Firefox if you want a replacement for IE. No popups, unless you want them. I don't understand how your client drummer plays drums with the set up like that.

Ok, I don't really have much advice on the topic of piano micing I have to wonder what the point of archiving all these posts are? This question has been asked half a million times on this site. This search for "large diaphragm condenser" brings 408 results. You should be able to get a decent...

Possible causes of CPU overload on an LE system (PC)?

I will go out on a limb saying you are recording 24/96. If so, then that is what is eating up a lot of resources. If not, then I am not sure as I use neither the 002 or a comparable processor.

    Dual CRTs refresh rate/magnetic fields

I have been running a Sony CPD E400 for a few years now. If I was to buy another identical monitor off ebay and ran it at the same refresh rate and resolution next to ( I mean RIGHT next, almost touching) the first monitor would there be any interference with their magnetic fields? Also, is it...

    Snare drum generalizations needed

My nose started bleeding, the roof in my room caved in and my dog got hit by a car when I read that.

Good muscians make bad equipment sound good.

I agree, with the good heads sentiment. When I play my first drumkit, it is a Manhattan, I know never heard of it. Well, it was beat to shite for a long time and one day I bought new skins when I was using it as my main kit for a while. I have drumkits in different cities, parents...

drumagog users - how many channels do you get?

what i was thinking of doing was recording a few sets of me hitting my own drums at different intensities so the pitch and volume level are varied on their own. if i have the idea correct i can have different sets of hits for different volumes coming into the plugin. and that will select which...

drumagog users - how many channels do you get?

ok, who is the fool here? i read what you said about CPU usage before hand and it was hovering aroun 90%, which is a lot. so i tried it on a less effects intense song and got one track going fine, the second would work depending if i dropped more effects off. so i guess my 2500+ should be...

drumagog users - how many channels do you get?

I thought about it being a trial version they might cripple some of the features but no slow it down. I tried removing some effects and tracks and i could get one channel of drumagog going, but on a P3-733 that seems a bit extreme for CPU usage.

drumagog users - how many channels do you get?

I am upgrading my computer and I downlaoded a trial of drumagog 3.09. On my curreny P3-733 with 19 tracks going at 24/48 with about 8 Vegas effects going I can't use a single drumagog track without stuttering. I am getting an AMD 2500+ and upgrading my system, how many tracks should I expect...

    Studio Upgrade Suggestions

agreed, get the 1010 if you intend to make money. the one thing that customers don't want to hear is that they have to settle for less. in this era it is expected to have atleast 2 overheads and a mix on each drum. now room and specialty mics can make a song stand out, you have a certain...
