    Compressed(zipped)files

I haven't tried Monkeys audio (yet... thanks, pglewis!) but WinRar, set to maximum compression (Rar format only) outdoes the ZIP format by a long shot, for fitting more data into a smaller space. As far as what the trade off is, strictly speaking, there is one. Processing power. (or more...

    Traveling with a Hard-Drive

If your hard drive was shipped to you via UPS... It has already undergone abuse that would make you shudder. Trust me. I used to work there. Even if no one purposely abuses it, it still has a fairly bumpy journey, but I have seen people intentionally fling, smash, kick, squash, and generally be...

Sonar file formats and Backup software...

Using a compression utility like WinRar to squish down file size can save you some space, and therefore from buring some CDs, but it takes time. BTW, don't bother with Winzip for this purpose, the max compression of Winzip is very innefficient compared to that of WinRar. WinRar is like $30 or...

    FxDelay left and right ....

for delaying one track....(or all tracks on a Vmain) I dunno if this will help you or not, but I found a plugin (A FREE one, no less!) There are a bunch of free plugins on this page: http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio.htm but the one I am talking about here is "Sample Slide" They...

This is my best? Before and After...

Super-critic Feel free to post your opinions, that is one of the main reasons people submit their stuff, one would assume. When you approach it from a "I know more than you" standpoint, you don't have anything specific to CONSTRUCTIVELY criticize, and furthermore, you have NEVER posted...

    Anyone have the Aardvark Q10?

I was wondering about the short runs thing, thanks. On the sig level, is there any kind of matching transformer to take care of that that isn't total crap?

This is my best? Before and After...

dafduc - WOW. GREAT song. I personally actually like your version better, performance and instrumentation-wise. (Maybe it's cuz I am a Tom Waits fan, I dunno)

SP B1 applications (or "How do you use your B1 - besides vocals?")

Hey Jim, Thanks. It is the left and right arrows, btw. I THOUGHT I tried that last nite, but I guess not. That will make things easier. It goes up and down in .5 db increments that way, so it is not ideal, but it is definitely gonna be a huge help. PS - It doesn't really go up and down in .5...

    Anyone have the Aardvark Q10?

Hmmm, I didn't know that was usually on much more expensive equipment only. I feel even better about my choice in buying the Q10. It was a kind of big leap to take when I bought it, there were so many out there. I almost bought the Wami rack 192 XL (I think it's called). In retrospect, I am...

SP B1 applications (or "How do you use your B1 - besides vocals?")

Jim, I tried using the arrow keys on my Q10, and if I hit Shift + an arrow, it changes the focus from one control to another, is that what you were referrring to?

    Anyone have the Aardvark Q10?

and actually, another comment on the Q10... The only feature of it I don't like is that the effects inserts are not balanced. I would have liked them to be...

    Anyone have the Aardvark Q10?

Ptron, I read about your problems, earlier, too. Actually I posted on them, also. I would try this: 1 - Disable your virus scanner before doing anything audio related. Same goes for anything else sitting in your systray 2 - If you are on an always on network conecction (i.e., cable modem or...

    Anyone have the Aardvark Q10?

I've got one! I love mine, it is admittedly my first A/D converter, but I love it. No sample music from me, tho. My partner is all freaked out about ditributing stuff right now (long story). I would be happy to answer any questions you have about it.

Set up question for recording vocals.....

I always use the inserts on the back for vox. (I have the Q10 and a behringer 2200 comp). for instance... Vox in to CH1 Insert 1 send to comp in Insert 1 recieve to comp out. Settings on the comp? A matter of preference, I guess, but I find that I like to try not to use the comp too much...

I'm going insane: All sorts of problems with Aardvark/Cakewalk

I think I am missing something.... didn't dachay2tnr say that PA9 was not supported under XP? That would seem to be the problem, right? (I am really askin, not trying to be a wise ass.. I might have missed some of the stuff after dachay2tnr's post, it is late....) As far as the Q10, I have...

Throw in your nugget of knowledge!

Oh, and my helpful hint to contribute would be to learn the keyboard shorcuts of any and all computer programs you use in recording. They save incredible amounts of time.
