All my shure 57's are legit but those GLS 57's are the real deal , I really cant hear a noticeable difference between those two, at least in my room.

I have found that better gear, with weak skills, or a crappy room , will not automatically make your recordings suddenly sound pro. You should be able to get some quality recordings with the gear you already have. But that stuff will help if you know what your doing.

Try turning your mix knob on your interface during play back , you probably have it turned the wrong way.

A ribbon mic would expose how shitty my room is even more, and then make me be one of those dudes that obsesses about first reflections and bass traps. I just don't have the time for that right now.

keep an eye on your levels, small rooms are a pain.

I may stuff a pillow in it and throw pedal on it just to see what it sounds like but there's no way Im going to stuff another drum in it , Im way too lazy and have very little vanity left.

Finding your away around buying software is easy....use free software. There is plenty out there that can get you started.

Throw a rug down , put some blankets up , and do some recording, if you keep going long enough you then can start learning what you hear, or don't hear in your room and then treat it accordingly, or don't.

Does the sound go away when your playing the guitar? I have this issue also, when the guitar is sitting in my lap I have a low buzz, when I place my hand on the strings it goes away. Im guessing its a ground issue for me , but thought I would just ask.

Used is gonna get you the most bang for your buck, Craigslist is always good and Guitar Center used department is a gold mine of cheap drums. Good heads and tuning are the key to any level drumset but I would still stay away from anything , OTHER THAN, maple , birch, sets, if you can help it...

I don't know, If it sounds hard to believe AND a musician says it well.....? How many times have you guys ran into some random dude that had an uncle that...blah blah blah....or some dude that says their band is getting signed..etc, etc....yea, Im jaded.
