I have always gotten the most compliments from sound guys, unsolicited mind you, from my birch set. And I have always found it easier to tune a birch set especially when in an unfamiliar place. Plus I think birch has more tuning range. My maple set is either sounds good or like ass . Now...

Ok sorry im late...WTF is pitch bending tom tone and how does that sound pleasing? When my drums make that 2 note bend I freakin want to smash my drums!! I like a sharp attack with a nice controlled resonance that fades out smoothly.

On playback make sure first that you un-armed your tracks and mess around with the mix knob on your interface.

I thought the film did a great job of covering Sound City's history. You really couldn't do a documentary about Sound City and not include Fleetwood mac and the other bands from that era that pretty much put that studio on the map.

Plenty of reviews at musicians friend but remember most of those people have never had high end mics to compare them to.

You can buy used new beats all day long at $120. If someone pays more they didn't shop very well.

I always cringe when I browse craigslist and see an entry-mid level drum set with a few good cymbals and the person is asking $1000 $1500 or something . The used market is literally flooded with these types of Instruments. Take what you paid and divide that by half, if your gear is in good...
