Is the DP-24 being discontinued or replaced?

Great DAW, sounds nice, looks nice, easy to get around and fast. Been using my DP24 for the past 6 months and it been working great so far. My only gripes about it are it only has two effect sends and no ability to connect to a larger monitor screen. If Tascam released a new unit with three...

    studio construction: plz help

I'm no designer, but I've cut tracks in some pretty big rooms over the years and I gotta 100% agree John, them big old control rooms do sound better and they seem to have huge "sweet" spots on the mains too. I'm building my little home studio, I know it will never sound like the real pro-rooms...

Thanks for the props. Both of those shark tooth neck guitars have the same switch set-up. The blue one is a Model 4, bolt on neck and the red one is a Model 6 neck thru. They have an active 9 volt mid-range boost from the factory. If you ever see one in a store of pawn shop, give it a try...

Hard to remember if it was an MCI or not, it could have been, it was back in 1985-1986 and most of the newer desks in town were Neve, Harrisons, MCI and SSL. I thought Jim Varney had something to do with the place, could be wrong, that was many brain cells ago. lol I did most of my stuff at...

The "warden", lol I know that feeling! You're correct about the tubes, I have the GE82's in those two sideways slots like the amp came, so I guess my idea of V3 was the tube slot at the end furthest from V1, understand? lol I got em right, thanks :guitar: Charvels? Yeah I got a bunch of them...

EQ for more snare, less hats.

Was in on a scoring session and watched an engineer use an old strobe tuner to find the frequency of a cricket screaming during an outdoor interview. Once he found the frequency he patched in a nice graphic eq, pulled down that frequency slider to bottom, boosted up all the others a few DB and...

    long rock power chords guitar

You are looking for more sustain, yes? What guitar are you using? Bridge type, hard-tail, tremolo, Floyd Rose? Pickup? Long power cords are all about sustain, might be able to help, start with guitar.

Wow, a room with a view, too bad its not easy to incorporate the view into the design, would be inspiring for song writing. Years ago I did a session in the United Artists Tower in Nashville, the round building. Anyway the studio was on one of the top floors and had an awesome view. At night it...

Kinda like that Greenback tone, familiar Southern rock tone, nice. Did you cut a track with the DSL1 at the full 1 watt into the speakers? The speakers might open it up a little more.

    Best Amp Modelers

Haven't done much re-amping yet, but a DI Splitter box is on the list. Have you checked out the cab simulators in the Eleven rack? Was playing around with them, most all speaker cab combinations from 1x12 on up and also has different mics and placement angles; pretty nice sims. I’ve run into...

Well…… Let’s say yes and no While Marshall’s 50th anniversary 1 watt amps don’t produce the insane volume levels as my Marshall 2203 JCM800, they do however produce insanely beautiful tube tones running flat out, without making your neighbor’s ears bleed and the police won’t be banging on the...

No disrespect was meant in my $10K statement about the room design with all of the diffusers; it’s a work of art. So yes, the design is totally awesome, looks like some of the pro rooms I’ve worked in over the years. If my $10K estimate was wrong, what would be a more accurate one? Thanks

No doubt about that, the AXE FX stuff is King right now. If I weren't building the acoustics of my room I would budget for one too. Right now I'm tracking a lot with the Eleven Rack (AKA: Poor mans AXE) Its pretty good and very quiet too. I'm digging the on-line support group forums and...

    Best Amp Modelers

I had both the DSL1 & JVM1 combos, each had a slight edge over the other, but all in all they're very close in tone. I ran the same tube set-up in both, RCA 12ax7's long gray plates in V123 and GE 12au7's in v45 positions. After a few months of playing thru both amps, decided I only needed one...

My room is a little smaller, the control room measures 11' 8" x 16' 8" with a vaulted ceiling starting at 8' at the front wall, with a slope up to 12' at the rear wall. I built a pretty big desk for the gear I'll be using, its going to be a demo studio that may see some video post...
