Of course bro, a small box & small speaker is always going to sound small, that’s a no-brainer right? I never run my 1 watt amp using the little combo speaker, it’s always hooked up to my 1960 cab with 75's in it. When the new 5 watt DSL5's are available at Sam Ash or Guitar Center, I’ll test...

+1 Agree I'd bet it would sound much better with 4 x12's too! :thumbs up:

Totally agree that the whole recording on their demo does sound rather thin. You can especially hear the “thinness” in his voice when he’s speaking too. To my ears, they shouldn’t have recorded the demo in such a hard surfaced room and the open back on the combo isn’t helping it bouncing off...

Minerman, sounds like a good plan, if I would have kept my DSL1C I would do it too. Have you guys seen the new Marshall DSL5C amp yet? They're not made in the UK, but getting ok reviews, priced around $450. Has fx loop and a 1 watt switching option.

I sold the DSL1 and kept my JVM1, I like the little extra gain and more modern metal tone of the JVM1. I only consider this mod to the JVM1 because I seldom run the pre-amp more than 6 or 7, the rest of the available gain is kind of worthless to me. So, if this piggyback mod can be dialed in to...

Thanks for the link, looks like something to consider according to the post..... "R33 piggybacked with an other 220k (plate resistor 108k with my multimeter) And I must say this is the way and it sound GREAT!!!! The sound is more open with less compression and for the gain use, before the mod I...

    Happy birthday stratocaster.

Picked up a 2004 50th Aniv Strat Deluxe thinking it was gonna be special someday, but it seems like almost every year is Fender's birthday. Sometimes I think they celebrate more B-days than Chucky Cheese, lol

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

Feel the same way about mine. Try to find some self-powered monitors and try to do some room acoustic work if possible; this will help a lot too. Have fun!

Keep at it, your project will be done on it's own schedule. Just try to not fall into that "Tom Schultz" syndrome, where you get so "nit-picky" that it takes a lifetime. Not disrespecting his accomplishments or his legendary tunes, but he could have done much more. My focus is on writing songs...
