Power amp suggestions for passive monitors?

Looking for suggestions for amps to power passive monitors in my home studio. What have you used or are currently using and what do you like or dislike about the amp? Thanks for the help!

have audiophiles taken over home recording?

Cut my teeth back in the early 80’s on an old MCI 400 desk & a 16 track 2” tape machine. Then, moved up to a Trident 80B & Studer A800 with Dolby SR on each channel. The quality of the recordings did improve greatly and then digital emerged and it was easy want to embrace new technology, but...

    EZDrummer 2

Cool I hope so, would be great if I can just USB straight from the Akai Element right into the computer. I love those MPC pads and the more I play with EZ2, the more I'm digging it!

MPC Element to trigger EZDrummer 2?

Thanks for trying, but I've been reading their forum looking for answers on using the Akai, so far no luck found over there. I may just call the fellas over at Sweetwater and ask about the Akai MPC Element's ability to trigger EZDrummer 2.

MPC Element to trigger EZDrummer 2?

Does anyone know if the Akai MPC Element can be used to trigger EZ Drummer 2? Looking for an easy plug & play set-up to work with EZD2. Thanks!

    EZDrummer 2

Right now I'm looking for some pads to plug into my computer via the USB to trigger EZD2. The Akai MPC Element looks promising, but I need for information if it will work. Has anyone tried or knows how to set up an external triggering unit to EZD2 software? Any suggestions would be excellent...

    EZDrummer 2

I've been playing with EZD2 for the past three days and removing the effects are as easy as lowering the faders that control each effect in the mixer section to get a direct or dry signal. So far, I'm really digging this program. it helps me build drum tracks fast.

    Just got a DP-24

Yeah, I would use the DP24 just to record, playback and mastering. As much as I love using the DP24 in my home studio for demos, only having 2 dedicated effect sends is a bummer. I wish they would come out with a new model with 3 or 4 sends, I'd buy it in a minute! :thumbs up:

    Tascam DP 24 reverb.

Exactly, "Pre" is pre fader, so the audio signal would go to the FX send even with the fader down. "Pre" also sends the original input signal with whatever effect you're hearing to "tape" lol old school lol

    Tascam DP 24 reverb.

I've been cutting tracks for years, most always using fx sends set in Post, unless I needed to actually "print" the effect to the individual recorded track; which almost always caused problems with imaging during mixdown. The only exceptions are if recording bass or guitar tracks that might need...

    Just got a DP-24

Looks like a cool set up. I wonder what the 1.13 update does different than the 1.12. Are able to get individual track returns from your DP24 back into your Mackie board?

I hear you. Right now the rack doors are setback 6" from the armrest edge and the racks are actually 34" deep. I've been thinking of cutting 4" from the rack depths to 30" and still keep stability. This would also give the rack doors a 10" set-back and provide more leg room, when sitting kinda...

Haven't had a chance to check out the Desolation or LSX series Charvels. The Charvels I mostly own are from 1987-1988 made in Japan. They were made at the factory "Gakki" and were really great quality guitars. The guitars were known as the "Model" series. They were known as Model 1, or 2 or...

Thanks Bro, there's just something about those jumbo frets, compound radius necks and the build quality about them that's hard for me to beat. I have a Les Paul and a Stratocaster, but they're "case queens", while the Charvels get driven hard a lot, lol :guitar:

Thanks, I wanted to try to set up everything within easy reach, to not lose creative flow while writing tunes. I like the DP24, it sounds good, easy to get around, the "Mastering" section is really cool too. It only has two effect sends, which sux, but for basic demos its a pretty nice rig.

I went with a two rack design on casters to support the desk. Plenty of storage space and an excellent way to hide the patchbay too. Its 73 1/2" wide x 41 1/2" deep including end caps and the armrest. Hidden behind the right rack door is a 1/4" 96 point patch bay and an available 8RU for...

DP 24/32 SD card record time

Good tip on the Sandisk 32 gig card cards, thanks. Getting great results using the 16GB cards, but the price is right for those 32's! :guitar:

    Tascam DP 24 reverb.

+1 I actually bypass the factory effects on send one as well, using outboard effect units on both sends 1 & 2.

    Tascam DP24 High Z

The signal output from the "Palmer" should be at line level out, so there shouldn't be a need to move the switch to guitar. I believe the "guitar switch" is for plugging a guitar directly into the DP24 and using the built in guitar effects engine; the "guitar switch" must just boost the signal...
