When recording with sims, my best luck has always been not using any pedals pre-input. The sim should have an equivalent in its program or maybe an effects loop. What sim are you using?

Yeah, but if you had it would be worth a few grand today. Anyone that disrespects Randy Rhoads or his V guitar design, can only wish they could ever play as well as or sell as many records or fill the arenas that he did. Sorry, but this had to be said....

know a good guitar amp for a heavy rock tone?

I've been playing with the little 1 watt Randall Diablo in my home studio using standard tuning and it records pretty nice for what it is & at the $250 price, it's a pretty amazing little hi-gain beast.

    The New Tone Thread

Back in the 80’s & early 90’s I worked in several Neve, SSL & Trident equipped pro studios in NY, Nashville and Miami. All were loaded with insane amounts of outrageous vintage equipment; you name it we used it or had access to it almost anything you could ever dream of using. Record...

know a good guitar amp for a heavy rock tone?

I've got a few Marshall amps, but for the past week I've been checking out a friend's new Randall Diablo amp and I gotta say..... it roars. Solid tight and very heavy, I don't want to give it back! :listeningmusic:

Yeah, checked out both SD & EZ2 and the songwriting screen is what pushed me towards EZ2. Not only does it have great sound samples & some interesting preset patterns (which can be user modified) there’s also a “tap to find” feature that uses artificial intelligence to offer close matches and...

I've been using an old Akai MPC 200XL for years, but a few months ago I picked up the new Ezdurmmer2 software and I'm loving it. It has some really good drum sounds and putting together songs with it is pretty fast. If you go that route let me know, I've learned a few nice tricks I'll share with...

+1 The first time I tried to play a DP24 mix in my car I experienced that. I only use the CDR's now and all is fine. Good luck!

    Discontinued (?) as of 24 Nov 2014: DP-24, DP-24SD and DP-32 (DP-32SD still active)

Who knows what Tascam has up their sleeves next? I think there’s always a market for “hands-on” home recording equipment hardware. Last night I was mixing a tune in my little home studio on my DP24. The song had six tracks of guitars (3 distorted & 3 direct/clean), had two bass tracks (1...

Rate my wife's singing?? See link.

The tone of her voice is soothing. I would up the quality of the recording a lot more, if it were me. Singers should never sound like they’re afraid to sing “too loud”. Singers’ always realize the freedom to be as powerful as they want in a studio. Amazing things can happen when someone stands...

    Acoustic electric live

I've tried a bunch of acoustic/electrics over the years. Was lucky enough to find one of the Fender Acoustasonic Stratocasters and my search ended. This is not one of those Stratacoustic plastic body guitars. The Fender Acoustasonic Stratocasters were cut from a solid Strat body and have...

    Passive studio monitor ** **

I used to run the small Rockit & Tannoy self powered monitors in my studio for a while. My mixes weren't that bad, but the smaller drivers gave poor bass response which didn't translate well on a lot of home systems; even with a well treated room acoustics & mastering. A friend turned me on to...
