First guess is that the tape is sticky. Don't use your tape any more and test it with a new tape. If it is still wonky let us know and we'll look at plan b.:D

My ms 16 fast forwards and rewinds really slowly. When I spin the wheel on the left (looking at it from the front) with my hand it spins freely one direction but hard the other way. Right now it is in an unheated space so its cold (around 35). Any ideas?

Since it was a third floor I just ripped out the flat ceiling and followed the roof joists up to a peak. Not a lot of cost since I did it myself. Probably $70 in materials.
