I'm in the process of a studio remodel. My control room is on a third floor with about a three foot knee wall on two sides and a slanted ceiling after that. The slant behind where the speakers will be and at the wall behind me across from the speakers. I have ridgid fiberglass bass traps for...
SCORE! Looks just like mine (no red sockets though). There is a guy in Nashville, Chris Mara, who is an MCI guru.
I'm sure he would know where to get parts. PM me and Ill shoot you his contact info.
I just installed 1 inch 8 track heads on one of my mx70s and removed cards 9 - 16. Is that all I have to do to covert it (other than alignment and calibration)? No problems with the power supply running less with the same amount of power, etc?
Thanks.
OP here. Been off the grid again. Vacation this time though......To answer the why analog question: I have always used it and like it. I have Pro (for 1985 or so) gear (two Otari mx70s, Sony/mci 1/4 inch, Amek board, yadda yadda) and I am not really interested in learning a whole new process...
Sorry everyone. Been off the grid for a while. Thanks so much for the input. I'd rather not use a modeler but my amps are LOUD. Regarding low watt amps (1.5-18watt) where would I get one and what do they sound like? I've got no problem with selling the mesa and 5150.
I've got some nice amps here but they take up alot of space so I'm thinkig about modelers. I need a stand alone unit as I am analog. I had a line 6 spider a couple of years ago and didn't like any of the non clean sounds. I've got a triple rectum frier that sounds great but is Too loud for my...
I'd like to get some tight harmonies for a project I'm on and the talent isn't really there. I know this is a cop out but these are a a bunch of 9 yearr old girls (my daughter and her friends). Here's the fun part, I'm totally analog so computers won't work. I need it to be able to work...
Wow. What a tank! BTW its an 8 track machine. Any idea what year it is Sweet? I've been doing this stuff since the late 70's and I dont recall seeing one.
$600 for the whole pile. I've also got about a bazillion custom made rca to xlr cables. Too bad I can't use em. They would go great with a Tascam 520 though....Sweet, I'll check on the MRL but I think those are older. I'd be happy to lend it to you.
So, I was talking to this guy and he says that he has an mx70 for sale and some boxes of stuff that came out of a Cleveland recording studio that closed in the late 90's. I go to look and there are 4 or 5 big boxes, the deck and a big box of cables. It being a good deal I bought it. I am now...
OK. This is going to show how long I've been doing this stuff but, back in the late 70's I used records called drum drops. Real drummers playing beats at different tempos. It would be cool to find one of those.
Maybe he means to mix it so it sounds good playing the tune on a system with the eq flat. Whenever I test a mix on another system (home, car, computer, pod) I only play it with the eq as a flat line. No tweaking (hard as that is).
