    Microphone FAQ?

Hi there, Is there such a beast? I've looked around the BBS but don't see one. Am I missing the obvious? TIA!

    Recorded with N-Track

Hey, nice stuff! I like the acoustic guitar sound and how you arranged them. I like the different guitar parts panned out to each ear. The drums on the rock version of 112 sound real. How did you get them into ntrack? I'm searching for some good methods of doing this too. Every now and then, I...

Best program for .wav / MP3 conversion???

That is an excellent article! Is the FhG only available in commercial software? One reason I like CDEX is the price. :) I am using the LAME encoder with CDEX, which this article cites as #2 on the higher bitrates. Thanks for posting that link! I've forwarded the URL to a couple of buddies...

    Recording real drums

Hey, would this work? http://www.woodwindbrasswind.com/product.jsp?path=-1|96303|96504|147529&id=53694 It's the Midiman Delta 66. It looks like four ins and outs through a 24 bit soundcard. I'd have to upgrade my ntrack to the 24 bit version, which is not a prob. Has anyone else used something...

    Recording real drums

Hi there, I have an Alesis SR16 for drums, but my tunes are missing that "human" element in the percussion area. Any suggestions for recording a real drum set with ntrack? I had two thoughts: 1) Record snare and kick from the SR16 to left and right channels respectively, split the stereo track...

Best program for .wav / MP3 conversion???

cdex CDEX works great most of the time. I think it runs better on Win9x at times though. If you're running W2k, make sure you follow the advice at their homepage re: ASPI drivers. I use ntrack to record and it has an option for creating an mp3 of the recording at mix time in addition to the...

Can you write drum tracks on this program?

Mega, I give full credit to my buddy Nate V. in NC for this. YMMV, depending on your soundcard and such. But the principles should be the same. I hope it helps! Tony "Motorbreath" <-----snip------> Open up n-track and pull down the "Track" menu. Go down to "Insert bank track". It will give...

    New N-Track user

smalltowner, In the lower right corner of your screen (the "tray"), you'll should see the little speaker for adjusting the audio properties. (Mine is yellow.) If you double click it, the playback mixer for windows comes up. Click Options, Properties, and choose Recording instead of Playback...

    Recording Punk Rock

No doubt on the clipping! For the style (I play in a punk pop band), it's probably easiest to distort the vocals. You can probably get a consistent level out of the other stuff, especially if it's a wall of sound like punk usually is. :) Just my $.02.

yamaha mt 120 or other 4 track cassette recorders

I've got an MT120 and I really like it. Pretty much all in one...mixer, fx loop, eq, runs at 9.5 ips...I just used it and an fx unit for awhile before I picked up some other equipment. Got mine off of ebay for about the price range you are looking for. Yamaha web site has the documentation for...

    Consumer speakers for home studio?

Thanks for the encouragement and advice. I agree, some studio quality monitors are in my future, but I don't know when. I think I might need a compressor/limiter first. My studio setup: Yamaha MT120 4 track, Peavey multieffects unit (used sparingly), 16 channel board (brand name escapes me)...

    Consumer speakers for home studio?

Hi folks, First, I just want to say I'm happy I found this site. I've done a lot of reading, but I can see I have a lot more ahead of me. :) I needed speakers for my little setup. Not having an abundance of cash, I picked these up at my local Best Buy...
