    Studio fatigue

No problem! We're glad to find the problems now rather than later. Housing is falling rapidly so I think we might find a better deal down the road anyway.

Dang didn't know you were in CO I could have driven and gotten them. Have you always been in CO? Didn't realize that. My house purchase fell through on inspection so I didn't really have the room anyway.

Thanks for the offer Jimi, but you take them, Spantini.

    Guitar build #2

Yeah the Allpart necks look like good deals, but I like 1.65 nut and vintage frets, and I don't see tweakable options like that on the Jazzmaster necks. I had to go with USACG since I could customize those. I hope there's no weird mismatch like in that video. We'll see! I am going to do a...

    Guitar build #2

Jimi, do you find that certain bodies and necks don't mesh well together? Like you could have a high quality body and neck yet they don't sound right together? Kind of like explained in this video where certain things just don't match: YouTube What companies do you use for the body and neck...

Where does all the money go?

For me it's instruments, then mics, then software. My computer is five years old and runs everything fine still, so that's been amortized over the years. The rest is pretty trivial. Highly suggest making your own cables.

    Is Cubase falling behind?

Something that really helps with overall laptop speed (W7 at least) is adjusting for best performance (system--advanced--performance--settings--adjust for best performance). This gets rid of all the fancy graphics, which might be an eyesore because suddenly it looks like Windows 95, but man does...

    Is Cubase falling behind?

You can read about the updates in 9 here: What is new in Cubase 9 | Steinberg Did you also try updating all your drivers (especially audio and video) and going through the Cubase checklist? Doing all that might get you even smaller buffers. Optimizing Windows for DAWs – Steinberg Support

I built my first pedal over the weekend.

    Is Cubase falling behind?

Did you watch that video? He explains specs mean nothing if a piece of hardware is causing a log jam. Install Reaper and see if it's fast. That's an easy way to see if it's Cubase.

    Is Cubase falling behind?

Nice video. Now I don't feel so bad for saying it's the computer. A good way to test this is download the free trial of Reaper and see if it's fast. Other things to try: 1. Reinstalling Cubase in the event something got corrupted, etc. 2. Use Ccleaner and clean all junk/optimize the computer.

    Is Cubase falling behind?

I had the same experience. It's so much cheaper that I wanted to like it, but just couldn't get into the work flow, lack of depth, etc...and I love programming midi in Cubase. The next best DAW (and the most similar to Cubase) is Studio One. The summing engine in SO sounded weird to me, though...

    Is Cubase falling behind?

Yeah my VSTs are in 5 different places, too. If you try to move them to one folder they usually break. It's a bummer that installation is still not standardized and so inefficient.

    Is Cubase falling behind?

My buffer is around 3ms. I7 16GB built in 2013 computer. I use the focusrite software to get latency that low, though, and without it it's closer to your numbers. Have you tried Ccleaner and optimizing the computer for audio? Ccleaner will clean out a lot of junk that bogs down PCs. The one...

    Is Cubase falling behind?

Yeah ignore my post I didn't read that you had a new PC. 8.5 should be fast on that computer. Cubase has awful tech support, but you can try their forum. It's pretty good for tips. Run a computer cleaning like Ccleaner to make sure you don't have junk bogging you down, too.

    Is Cubase falling behind?

Sorry, I missed that part. I'm not sure what's going on, but I run 9.5 on my 6 year old laptop (I7 and 16GB of RAM also) and it runs perfectly.

    Is Cubase falling behind?

Cubase 9.5 is the best yet, so no. Maybe upgrade your computer.

How important are scales and theory in your guitar playing?

Well, if you've never heard the song before, tabs aren't helpful at all because they just tell you where to put your fingers, not how long to hold them there. Notation gives time duration of each note, so it's much more valuable. Though, to do that you have to learn note and rest duration and...

My friend wants to learn drums

But she doesn't want to learn all the "boring" stuff like rudiments and stuff. She's more into learning songs. I want to encourage her to play and just learn songs, but I know the fundamentals are really important. Any ideas how to approach this?

    Noiseless Pickups

So I re-soldered the pots and it seems much quieter now. This is an AVRI Fender so a big surprising. Would an iffy joint lead to those symptoms of noise?
