what is this EQ plug in? or what is this EQ. (PICTURE!

it appears to be something being used on a macintosh os.

    Natural speed limits...

it just takes practice to shred like that. it's like a little kid that excels at something because there is nothing they would rather be doing so they conquer it at insane speeds. i don't care how fast you can shred if that's all you can do. if your primary goal is to be able to play fast and...

Would anyone like to paint my house?

bhaha. yes, it would most certainly seem anyone who professes occupational psychology to first understand their own.

    panning lead guitar

well with a separate track the two can be fiddled with separately after they're tracked. if you include it into the same rhythm tracks you won't be able to fiddle with them separately if you want to later on. i generally track everything separately but if you're in control you can do it any way...

    two mix effects

ah good ones. the second one i can do easy in adobe audition with a couple tricks. first i automated the volume reduction in the right area. then highlight the same area and goto edit view and pitch bend downwards. easy!

    Guitar Picks

ah! death/black metal. there's a few good ones. primarily to have complete control for fast riffing and picking and to prevent slippage. nylons get pretty slippery so they can slide away when sweaty. Dunlop Tortex Jazz Picks. medium green M3, and hard purple H3...

    a great trick for mastering

this certainly adds to the seperation mastering i read a lot about too. in memory, the more possible combinations of valid things to try, the better.

Any mixing/mastering tips specific to metal?

keep it simple. get a good sound out of your amp and record it. sometimes boosting the mids on the amp will sound great through the right mic. for quick riff ideas i plug my jackson ke2 directly into a marshall avt20 mic'd with a royer r-121 going into an apogee mini me to record right away...

EQ ING MIX .. / compressing mix

unless you want to mangle the interfering instruments with eq it might be best just to reconsider lowering the amount of interfering frequencies between both instruments and retrack them.

    Correctly mixing a female voice.

i would first make sure she has room in the mix and if the voice is that high make sure nothing in the same frequency range is interfering. if it's a vocal driven song maybe try mixing it around the vocals. otherwise, a little multiband compression in her frequency range might help if done...

Maiden not mastering their new album!

well the new maiden video's out. sounds pretty good. i just wish the song itself were as good as the mix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNttRSMqOe0

    Processing as you track?

i've found it best to record it all as close as you possibly can to the way you ultimately want it to sound first. this is key. i usually just concentrate on tracking it all first then adjust track levels and carefully eq out the unneeded. the more something is mauled with compression before...

Whats a great DAW software for recording?

adobe audition 2.0. i first started out with really old versions of cool edit pro and just kept sticking with it over the years until it turned into adobe audition 2.0. at first i completely hated the new interface but now with it's ridiculous simplicity, flexibility, smoothness along with my 4...

    Frequency/Spectrum Display?

these are all very true. i do agree with using both if you know how and when to use them. i have just always been under the impression it's best for me to know what's going on without one to truly know what i'm doing with one. but if you have em both and know how and when to use em, use em!

    Frequency/Spectrum Display?

good replies everyone. i've found it's best to avoid a spectrum analyzer and just use your ears. it's been my general understanding with home recording that the best thing to do is to take what you're listening to and try to balance the audio spectrum with your ears along with the tools you have...

So with Universal Audio teaming up with Neve

http://my.uaudio.com/store/product_reviews.php?products_id=50&reviews_id=195&cPath=22 here are UAD's reviews of the neve 1073 eq so far. i'm trying it in demo mode first and it uses up a lot of dsp in multiple instances so they included a lesser dsp version but it really sounds awesome. i mean...

alright, i'm still figuring out this whole recording and mixing stuffs. just a test song of mine before i start doing a full song. http://darkcubus.myftp.org/RIFF-stuffs1.mp3 any ideas on how i could better the mix or maybe any eq ideas would be cool. yes yes i know the playing is sloppy but...
