    Just to add. You may wanna check around for some cheapy direct drives and forsake the belts. Easy test to see if your platter is warped is to just push on one end. Does it move down? If the answer is yes, its warped. Not much to do but learn to live with it.

    ewwww...platters that are warped a little suck balls. Your gonna have to be real slick wit them. My buddy started off with some real ghetto belt drives and got the most out of those before grabbin some 1200's...My only advice is to scratch gently.

    If you want to format thats the easiest way. I had this problem like a month ago and thats exactly what I did. Then when its re-formatted just run your maxblast for the drive and partition again.
