    Chinese now doing Telefunken copies

The Australian consultant is said to be Guosheng of 3U Audio. He owns the factory in China where 3U mics are made. I've read several places that Warm gets capsules from 3U and they may actually do some of the manufacturing. The other capsule maker in Australia is Ben Sneesby of BeezNeez...

I really need help on making a decison purchasing a DAW. Thanks

It's doubtful they are bots. I know people who have tried out forums and just never felt comfortable. I've been on Facebook for years, and only made 3 posts in a full year. Two were for my sister's birthday! Some of my friends post 2 or 3 a day.

    Chinese now doing Telefunken copies

Why should "Buyer Beware" of Sweetwater or Guitar Center? I've dealt with Sweetwater for years, and have visited the store many times, since the days when they were on Bass Road and they had just build their warehouse. They have been as reputable as anyone I've ever dealt with...

Anyone do that Warm Audio Mystery Box sale?

I saw that a few days ago, but I really don't have a need for another mic. Some people have bought mics, and immediately posted them for sale on Reverb. If they were lucky enough to get an expensive mic, they price it a hundred less than retail. I guess it's an easy way to make some...

I am probably an idiot. Bought another reel to reel when I hate them!

That's good to hear that the source/tape is very similar. For me, it's the proper way to evaluate performance. I've seen lots of the "digital vs tape" comparisons, and it's always an after the fact comparison. Record something on 2 or 3 different systems and then go back and pick which one...

    Violin sound.

The POG might just modify the sound enough to trigger the B9 to make it sound better. As I said earlier, there's a lot of technique changes between a keyboard player and a guitar or violin player. I did find this one. He uses the C9 here which is similar to the B9, just different voices.

    AKG Perception P220 → Neumann U87 5-min Mod

I'll bet there's a thread on a Fender forum where someone bought a Squire strat, put on an AllParts strat body, a Warmoth neck, new Am vintage Strat bridge, new Lollar pickups and a custom pickguard, and CTS pots and PIO caps and new tuners. That Squire now sounds as good as a $1800...

I really need help on making a decison purchasing a DAW. Thanks

Since BobbyD hasn't been back since 2015, I doubt that he's take your advice here. And clearly, the landscape has changed over the past 10 years. I wonder sometimes what these people ended up doing. Did they find a solution for their issue? Did they toy with the ideas and give up as a...

    AKG Perception P220 → Neumann U87 5-min Mod

It's really too bad that a company as big as AKG with a full engineering staff, that's been in the business for 80 years and designed and built some very iconic mics can't figure out that a one part no cost change fixes a problem. Or maybe that was their design choice to use the "wrong"...

One dead channel, but that's no problem. I hear that listening in mono is the latest thing, so you only need one channel after all.

Ha! I remember when Subaru had a car, the 360, that you couldn't give away. There were thousands imported, but they didn't sell. Consumer Reports gave them a "Not Acceptable" rating. It had a 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine and suicide doors. You didn't want to get hit in one. Zero to 50...

    Rivers between us

Just got around to listening to this one. The intro is strange with the kick causing heavy pumping of the synth. I didn't care for that at all. Was this an intentional choice? The song's good enough. I'm not quite as fond of the mix overall, which is unusual. I usually enjoy your songs.

No drums, just different, and more emulations.

Pulled a coupla guitars from storage for general cleaning and love recently

I have a PODxt. I've used it for direct in guitar on a few songs, and it works great on the Bassman setting for ... you guessed it.... bass guitar! When I started jamming with my friends, and we go direct for guitars, I used it for a few months. It was a bit of a pain for a travelling...

    Chinese now doing Telefunken copies

I suspect if you are simply making a headbasket and body, without any internals, Neumann might have trouble bringing suit on trademark infringement anyway, since you're not really selling a microphone. Sell them to DIYers, who can then add a capsule and circuit board as they please. Make...

    Violin sound.

BTW, I just looked on Ebay UK, and there are a couple of B9 pedals in the £130 range. One was in Enfield, another in London.

    Violin sound.

Colin, I've got a B9 pedal. It can make some reasonably good organ sounds. The problem is trying to mimic a keyboard player's style. Playing guitar, I find that chords worked best if I was plucking several strings at once, vs the normal strumming motion. I also have to be careful to...

    New Members: Introduce Yourself Here!

I think that's the case for a lot of us... music is a hobby, not our livelihood. In some respects, that's a good thing. We do it for fun, not because we have to do it to eat and pay the rent.

Do they make such a cable ??

The other cable should have worked. Obviously something was buggered in that cable's wiring. A cheap VOM meter will tell you instantly what points are connected to what on the old cable.

Can I stand on a piece of metal to ground myself instead of buying a hum eliminator?

The mixer has mic/Line/Inst inputs. They work fine, been doing it for years.
