It'll actually support as many mics as you can get plugged into your mixer, but it's not going to give you 1 HomeStudio track per mic. You're still looking at 2 mono tracks. So, doubt you'd want to do this, but, just as an example, if you wanted to put a few mics up at the skin and blend them...

Have you checked out the MAudio Delta Control Panel to make sure that the recording level is up high enough? Go into the Monitor Mixer tab and check out the "H/W In 1/2" sliders to make sure that they're at a good level. This could be what's going on.
