It's perfectly reasonable to like guacamole and not avocados, or the other way around. Just sayin.

Stalking Horse - my latest thang

I listened when you posted this but didn't have time to comment. Sounds pretty smooth at this point. Nice arrangement as usual. The clean angular guitar work is really interesting. Not sure why, but the kit image comes through a little narrow for me, until the part with all the rack toms. Nice...

    Rock Song Mix

The fizzy guitar that comes in for the chorus is too loud and buries the vocals. At 2.35 there's a weird glitch on the right where it sounds like a guitar track suddenly gets unmuted in the middle of a bar. Vocal doubling could be tighter in places.. hope that helps.

Could use mix feedback (Original Song)

Hm.. the snare has a bizarre digital skipping sound, like maybe clipping or something? Just seems kind of out of place since the rest of the mix is pretty organic, and it interferes with the bass and some of your lower clean guitars. Love the tune, very repetitive and motorik sounding. For me...

Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain" - bluegrass style

Sheesh, I think the second mix sounds pretty good myself. I don't really hear the different space thing or mind the bringing instruments in and out. I think the banjo, and maybe even the mando could use a little more air. Nice playing though! How are you miking your mandolin?

Classic Hard Rock Band - Need Mix Help

Little throne squeak @0.45! I like that stuff personally. I think the biggest issue here is the bass. If there was any way of getting the bassist back in there to redo, it would totally be worth it. Kind of sounds like he's playing through a small combo and slashing with a pick to be heard...

    Starlight - alternative rock track

Listening on HPs, Great performances all around. The main gits seem a little fizzy.. it's especially apparent in the intro before the other instruments drop in. Bass sounds great, but it sounds like you have that thing where certain notes just boom more. I notice this when it goes up into the...

Their first record is not bad, it's a little more raw than their later stuff... This one.

Come Forth - spooky ass white boy shit

Boulder, given what you've heard of my vocals, is there any particular dynamic mic you'd recommend me looking into down the road?

Come Forth - spooky ass white boy shit

Wow, weirdly I actually did have one on the vocal send that I didn't realize was there.. it does happen to be LP'd at 8-10k. I guess I thought that would sound good? lol. There's actually not that much on my vocals, though I just fixed a compression problem (see above).

OKAY. New mix up in the original post. I did have both the main vox and OHs shelved up ~2dB around 3k and up, so I undid that.. I pulled some lo mids out of the bass, and I brought the doubled lead that starts at 2.00 closer together and brought the non-dominant track down some more to get a...

Come Forth - spooky ass white boy shit

The track I'm thinking of runs through the whole song. I believe it's automated back during the 2.00+ part but I'll have to check. That section has alot of vocal stuff going on low in the mix, so it could be one of those things, or it could be something I haven't noticed yet. I'll scrutinize it...

Child of Nature! Never my favorite Lennon song.. I think my first impression of the original was similar to that of Nola's gf.. something about the schmultzy rhymes and strings, plus I was like 12 and had zero life experience to relate to the sentiment. Great job on the cover though. I...

Come Forth - spooky ass white boy shit

Yeah, I neutered that 11-12k area on the vox and OHs... gotta say I think it took some sparkle off the master and I'm not sure I like it, but I'll post it later anyhoo. I'm glad you got the full HD280 experience though. :D

Ha, sadly I have to be a dick (again) and say the sloppy claps are totally intentional. Nothing's perfect in nature, and probably the least perfect thing is a room full of random folks clapping together. Some will be in time, out of time, double or half time, some on the off-beats etc. I like...

Come Forth - spooky ass white boy shit

It is fairly carved up.. I've been tweaking levels and EQs for weeks on this thing. And I never got into reference CDs.. Truthfully, my favorite records are all 50 years old and I'm kind of unaware of any existing artist who even shoots for the sound I'm shooting for. If you know of anything...

Come Forth - spooky ass white boy shit

Yeah, I'm sure it's there, I'm just having a tough time tracking it down due to my cluttered ears. SPAN shows a few spiky transients across the master between 8k-12k but I'm having a tough time tracking it down. The only "traditional" tracks up there are vox and OHs, and the OHs are fairly low...

Come Forth - spooky ass white boy shit

That's funny.. see, I'm also using 280s and I also don't hear the harshness. So I'm thinking instead of changing anything I may attach a caveat to the song.. something like "Please listen to this song on HD280s!" or something. Ugh.. Ok, there is a tuning thing I was wondering if anyone would...

That snare is a thorn in my side.. I've been wanting a new once since forever but it's just not in the budget right now.
