    good set-up for my situation?

What kind of mic would be good for this? Two SM-57's or a Shure VP88 type stereo mic? (I would like to stay in the sm-57 price range.) oops, I guess they dont make stereo mic's in that price range.

    good set-up for my situation?

Here is my situation. My studio area is a cramped area in the corner of a room (See pic's) My guitar amp is right next to my computer and playing area. I'm currently running everything direct into the computer so this set-up works pretty well. I'm wanting to mic my guitar amp but I dont want...

    I finished a new one.

This is the 5th installment of my Cyber-Twin demo mp3's. This one is a metal jam and features my new Fender jazz bass too. Everything was recorded direct and mixed with Cool Edit Pro. I'd like to get your opinions on the mix and I think I'm finally starting to get better at making the tracks...

    sonusman becomes a TRUE homerecer!

sonusman, I use a J-Station to record my bass guitar except I run the guitar through a SansAmp Bass DI first, before the J-Station. It gives me a bit more eq control and warms up the sound. I just finished a metal mix that has my new Fender jazz bass recorded this way on it, It's called Metal...

Take a listen to these tunes...lemme know what you think.

Great metal! Everything sounds great to me, except I dont care for the long intro's. I'll be posting a metal mp3 on my web site in a day or so. Right now all I have are some blues and blues/rock (well a heavy blues-rock) I'm remixing my Metal Mix right now. I cant get a good bass kick drum...

    sansamp classic DI

I've got a GT-2 that I used before I got my Cyber-Twin. I never used the distortion on the GT-2, I just used it for adding EQ and that Tweed tube sound. It worked great putting it last in the chain, right into a solid state amp to add tube harmonics & feel.

    My first mp3's

I had a big review of all your mp3's typed up but the damn browser crashed and I dont want to type it again, so here is a summery. Overall catchy guitar grooves though the guitar seems a bit bass heavy (my guitar tracks are usualy bass heavy too...) Lack of bass guitar, if there is one I...

    frequencies and levels

I played around with my parametric eq to hear the difference in cutting out some of the bass (250Hz) on a guitar track that was clashing with the bass guitar. How do you keep it full sounding while taking the lows away? The guitar track sounded very thin and small, though it did give room for...

I hate to ask this but... what is normalization, I've seen the option for it in Cool Edit Pro but have never used it. Reading other threads, it seems I should be using it.

    headphone mastering

So, it's "what you hear is what you get" when you mix/master with real monitors? I'm getting tired of burning a cd, running out to the car, then to a different stereo... and thats just some of my problems ;)

    frequencies and levels

My mix down's are usualy bass heavy and when I cut some of the bass out, the bass guitar gets buried in the mix. It takes several remasters to get it right. Can some one tell me what the frequency ranges are for basic instruments.. bass drum, snare, high-hat's, guitar, and bass guitar. I...

New Mp3 (this time a hard rock one)

I made a few little changes and uploaded it last night. Mainly I added some ambience to the guitar track and got rid of some of that boomy bass. I think I'll get it right after one more remaster.

New Mp3 (this time a hard rock one)

After running around the office listening to it on different computer speakers, I think I over did it on the bass drum again and I think the guitar may be a little too loud. Anyone else feel this way? Thanks!

New Mp3 (this time a hard rock one)

I've posted some dirty and clean blues/rock mp3's on here before, but here is a hard rock one for ya'll. I havent had time to burn it to a cd and play it in the car, home, work, diskman, etc.. So, the "universal" quality might vary. The bass is my P-bass through a SansAmp Bass DI which...

    vetta vs cybertwin

1: sound quality (I play a little bit of everything ie. jazz-metal) -It can do Creed but not Metallica (well, on it's own anyway..) Check out http://patchwizard.com and write down some of the submitted C-T presets to take with you to try when you demo the amp. Also, be sure to set the Timbre...
