    VST wrappers for CEP?

Anyone know of a VST wrapper that will allow Steinberg Mastering plugins to work with CEP? The plugins worked fine, without a wrapper, for about the first hour and now they crash my CEP every time.

Question about the overall mix level

I tried the steinberg loudness plugin, It seems like a great concept if the mix is right. I normally have too much bass in my mix and my latest one has a lot of mids too. I notice the bass and upper mids going into the red when use the plugin. Can someone explain the - & + (soft & hard)...

Question about the overall mix level

I record direct and mix with Cool Edit Pro. I've always assumed that you want to keep the peak level below the blue line at 30000 sample value (which is about 90% or 0.9 normalized value), why else is the line there? I figured for clipping.. However, I noticed when I looked at a .wav, of a...

    Distortion Guitar Sounds Like Shite

Speaking of distortion.. on this recording I used a simple 3 track layer technique on the heavy distorted rhythm guitar track. One rhythm track hard panned left, and another one hard panned right. Then I slid the right one back just a tad behind the left one. Then I recorded the same track...

My latest recording (metal mix #2)

Thanks for the comments, keep'em coming. About that "negative expanding" thing.. In Cool Edit Pro, the expander can widen or narrow the stereo image. Going up into positive number's widen it and negative narrows it, at least thats how it seemed to me after playing around with it for a while...

My latest recording (metal mix #2)

Here is my latest. I tried some different mixing techniques (that I found out about from some of you on here) on this one. It's my 9th recording, I'm getting better with each one. Its my first mix down, I havent remixed/remastered it yet like I had to do with my other recordings. After I...

    Any Cyber Twin owners here....

I've had mine for over a year now. I've been very happy with it. The first thing you should do is go to http://patchwizard.com and go into the Patch Pool for the Cyber-Twin. You'll find many presets that C-T owners have uploaded (over a 100 in there.) I've also recorded several C-T demo...

    Johnson J Station for Bass

I use the J-Station just for bass recordings. I use a SansAmp Bass DI with it for more options. It works pretty well, I've got some recordings on my web site. http://dabluesman.com

    Recording Zoom 234 drums

The new Zoom 323 has regular L/R outputs and Sub L/R outputs. The manual says you make just the bass, kick drum, or snare go through the Sub L/R outputs so you can record them as separate tracks. It also has left and right faders and some other nice features. I've done all my recordings with...

What is the best of amp for mic'ing up at home for recording?

Quote from Fender: "The Cyber-Twin uses Cybernetic Amp Design (C.A.D.)" Modelling amps use "digital snapshots of the amps they are "modelling." The Cyber-Twin doesn't. For instance the tone stacks, take blackface, tweed, and dynatouch amps. Those who have used these amps know that the knobs...

What is the best of amp for mic'ing up at home for recording?

I think the Cyber-Twin is the ultimate studio amp. It has XLR's so you can run it direct. It has two 12's in stereo, mic's nicely. It has an amazing range of versatility and tones. It'll do clean, dirty, flat out distorted, tube or solid state tones, vintage or new tones. If you have a...

    Mic'ing a guitar amp?

I'm thinking of getting two SM57's and an Audio Buddy preamp to mic my 2x12 guitar amp. Is it common to mic an amp in stereo with two mics this way? I'm use to mixing stereo guitar signals (direct) so I figured stereo micing with two mics would be a good idea, is it? Is the SM57 the right mic...
