sm57 or something else? (for amp micing)

Thanks guys! I ordered two sm57's, two mic cables, two mic stands and the M-Audio Omni box/preamp for my Delta soundcard. Can someone post a link to a good amp micing web site, general info on technique, mic placement, striaght or off axis, rules for using two mics, etc..

sm57 or something else? (for amp micing)

I'm going to upgrade my Delta 66 to the Omni with the mic pre amps and give micing my guitar amp a try. From what I've read the sm57 seems to be the standard and it's in my price range, I'll get two so I can record left/right (stereo). Anyway, in the same price range as the sm57, what are...

Where can I buy a Tokai online?

I ended up paying about $780 total.. the guitar ($520) hard shell case ($120) and shipping from Japan $140). The dollar to yen changes so it may be about the same or more or less at the current time. I've taken it to some local shops to show it off.. Everyone who has seen and played it says...

Where can I buy a Tokai online?

I ordered the LS75Q (about $550), It's the top of the line of the medium range Love Rocks. The others (LS200 and LS320) are high end and costs as much as a Gibson Les Paul. The lower end ones (LS70F, LS65, & LS60) go down in price about $40 for a flame sycamore top instead of quilted maple...

Where can I buy a Tokai online?

I ordered my "Love Rock" (beautiful dark heritage cherryburst quilted top) direct from Japan at http://www.cyborg.ne.jp/~universe/ (Yoshi's Guitar Universe) With standard shipping, my guitar got to me in just 4 days or so. And the dollar to yen conversion can save you some money. Also these...

How to get it loud and powerfull w/out much clipping??!!

All you need is a loudness maximizer such as the one that comes with Steinberg's Mastering suite. I had the same problem as you and the loudness maximizer plugin has solved it for me. Keep your wav's below the clipping mark then use the loudness maximizer plugin on the mixdown. Its simple to...

recommend some good blues songs please

Check out Robin Trower's Bridge of Sighs CD. It's kinda like Pink Floyd in some ways and Jimi Hendrix in others. It's straight up blues, I think you'll like it. http://dabluesman.com

Does anyone have any opinions about BILL LAWRENCE PICKUPS?

It's a crazy story but I'll tell you this. The "other guy" was at one time Bill Lawrence's partner but they went their seperate ways. The "other guy" uses very similar names for his pickups that Bill used/or still uses. This "other guy" is basically using the Bill's reputation to sell his...

Does anyone have any opinions about BILL LAWRENCE PICKUPS?

These are my favorite pickups. My '99 Fender Strat has the L-280's in the neck and middle (the best neck single coil type neck pickup IMO) and a S.D. Lil 59'er in the bridge. You will want to use 250k pots with the L-280's. I use 250k pots for the L-280's and the Lil '59er. Just because the...

    Shredders: Michael Angelo/Holland review

I always like to see good mention of the Cyber-Twin, I would think that there would be more praise around here about it, it's like the ultimate homerecording guitar amp... But anyways, I saw Greg's clinic over a year ago, just a few months after I got a Cyber-Twin. Greg is a great showman and...

Replacement Pickups for Les Paul Classic

I replaced the stock pickups in my Les Paul because it seemed geared for heavy music. I wanted a cleaner neck pickup and a punchier bridge pickup. I went with Bill Lawrence L-500's, a 500C in the neck and a 500L in the bridge. These are rail type pickups but they did exactly what I wanted. I...

    Shredders: Michael Angelo/Holland review

Last summer at NAMM in Nashville, a friend and I were eating at the Hard Rock. I noticed some long haired dudes sitting across from us and figured they must be pro players or something. My friend noticed the one guy was Michael Angelo. Later on at the convention I ended up catching his demo...

    Shredders and Grinders only-your setup

For the metal mp3 below I used a Fender Strat with a S.Duncan Lil '59er bridge humbucker and a Les Paul. Played them both through (believe it or not) a Fender Cyber-Twin. It sounds pretty good (recorded direct) in the mp3 but even better live (through the speakers, etc..) Yeah, I know it...

Electrical noise coming through my amps

As of lately I've noticed a ticking sound coming through my amps and computer speakers. I'm guessing a recent thunder storm or something messed up something in my electrical setup. A friend suggested I put my amp on a APC battery backup/surge protector, he said they make for being good filters...

    Tempo in Wave Files Inconsistent

Have you tried doing a right-click, click Loop properties, and select the first option (I think it is "simple looping", instead of selecting the tempo or time length options.) I did this last night while messing around some drum loops I created. Seems to work fine.

    bass amp mic's

I'm looking for a good mic to record my bass amp with, hopefully for around or less than $200. So far I've read a little bit about the AKG D112 and the Shure Beta 52. Anyone know about these or any others? Thanks!

    VST wrappers for CEP?

I know, thats what I meant.. Samplitude lets you go deeper with editing and functions. But it's not as easy to use (user friendly) as CEP V2.

    VST wrappers for CEP?

I upgraded to CEP v2 and everything works great! I love the new look too. To me it seems similar to Samplitude, just not as "deep" with editing and features. It's a keeper!
