    fake live recording!!

I recently finished a "live" cd for a client that was done totally in the studio. It was pretty tricky but I think in the end we got it sounding pretty close. Most people listen and think it was an actual concert. I did several things to make it sound "live." We recorded all of his vocals...

    NI guitar rig

I think out of the modelers it is one of the better ones. Nothing beats a great amp in a great room mic'ed up well, but that can't always happen. I had a POD that I hated, but I'm liking the guitar rig a lot more. I think a lot has to do w/ the player feeling comfortable with it and with...

    $200 Tube Condenser - Choices (?)

For $200 I don't think you're going to get much of a tube mic. Is there a reason that you are interested only in a tube mic? I think that in the $200 range there are some really good non-tube mics that would probably sound a lot better than the two mics you mentioned. What applications are...

Best Value Mic(s) for Recording Male Vocals/Martin Acoustics

Some mics in that price range that I have really liked: older akg 451's octava mc012's at 4047 (probably have to get used, but great mic) studio projects c1 (not on acoustic) some old akg (c91's? called blue line series) At that price range the trick will be to either get the octavas or get...

    Sennheiser MD421 or e609

I don't think that you could really say that one will be better than the other...it depends on the room, amp, placement..etc. etc. That said, from my opinion, the e609 has a more "hyped sound." It kind of boost the highs and lows. The 421 has more mids/low-mids and thus probably a little...

    Best Mic For Guitar Cab

I definitely agree that there is no "right" mic in all situations, but there are a few that just about never let me down. The sm57 and the 421 are definitely the first two I try. But lately, I've been going with the Sennheiser e609 silver...that thing ROCKS! It's like it just makes every amp...

Taylor 410ce w/ "Pink Poodle" Hard Case and Fishman Prefix Plus

I'm selling a 410ce with the Fishman Prefix Plus electronics and the Pink Poodle Case. The "pink poodle" case is the now rare and sought after hard case that Taylor USED to make featuring stronger latches and a nice pink/red velvet interior. I also have the original SKB case for it that you...

    FS: Soundcraft Ghost...Cheap!

I'm selling a Soundcraft Ghost 24, not the LE, but the full version with mute automation, machine control, etc. I'm hoping to get about $1300 for it. Something fell on it a while back and mic pre's 1 & 2 and the Control room knob currently aren't working. There were a few knobs broken but they...

    big knob vs central sataion

I demoed the Central Station at Presonus and I've got to say that it's a great piece. I am planning on getting one real soon. For the price, they sure made a piece of equipment of way better quality than you'd expect at the price point. And the passive signal path isn't marketing jargon...

Upgrade Time, I Got a C1, Thinkn of getn a RODE NTK..

I've had both mics, and I'd say that the NTK is an upgrade. If you like the c1's tone you'll probably like the NTK, except that the NTK is much smoother. I've had it suck on some people and be awesome on others. I'd probably get a rnp preamp or presonus mp20 or something like that over the meek.

    Joe Meek VC6q

I'm selling my Joe Meek VC6q. Its in nice shape. The preamp, compressor, and eq all sound great. You can use just the preamp and engage or disengage the compressor and eq as needed. It also accepts a Line In signal so you can send it out of your DAW and use it at mixdown. Also contains 2...

    Pro Tools Mbox: Pro's & Con's

It doesn't have MIDI but I think you can get an inexpensive USB to MIDI interface or something like that so you can still use MIDI in protools. The software for all the LE systems is the same so you're getting the same protools as the 001, 002r, or 002. Jeremy

    Pro Tools Mbox: Pro's & Con's

The Mbox is definitely a good deal. You get to learn the ProTools software, which is a standard, and you get decent hardware with it also. I think you can use SPDIF and at 2 more inputs for a total of 4 at a time. Plus, you can grab it for like 275 on ebay if you want. The 002r comes stock...
