    Studio Sale - Getting Married

OK, I've already listed my soundcraft in a separate post, but since I'll be selling a lot of studio stuff in the near future, I figured I would start making a list of it here. I'd rather it go to forum members than put it on eBay. A lot of stuff has already sold but I still have a good bit...

    Soundcraft Ghost 24 ch Automation

Yep...it's a good price. Xstatic is right, but you would pay more than 3k for a 32 channel w/ meterbridge, especially one w/ mute automation, like this one has. The board sounds great, has tons of features...I'm liquidating the studio, getting married, you know...the whole deal. $1500 is a...

    Soundcraft Ghost 24 ch Automation

I've got a used Soundcraft Ghost 24 channel board for sale. It's been well taken care of and is the version with the mute automation on it. Channels 1-3 need a little work on their mic pres (line-in's work great) and I have a new Control Room knob for it. Great sounding board - very clean...

Who's cheap gear do you trust the most?

Not as much as I'd like to... :D And not any more than I would give any of you guys! ;)

    Event 20/20's w/ TA1600 or original krk v6's???

I used the 20/20's and that same Hafler amp for several years, and it is not a bad value. Those KRK's are pretty good also, as I've had the original V8's for several years now. I personally like having powered monitors just because there are fewer connections and the power amp is optimized for...

Some new gear I got some smoken deals on in the past 2 weeks!

Nice shockmounts! I trained in Shotokan for years...never had a poster with a guy in his underwear though...

    Avalon sp737

The 737 is not a hugely impressive piece for what you are paying. If you picked up one used for about $1200 that's a different story, but at the new price it's probably not worth it. If you really want Avalon go with the AD2022. It is their flagship pre and is a amazing quality...in a whole...

    What would you do?

Yeah...you might want to hold off on the SM7 until you have something like an Avalon AD2022 or similar with a crapload of gain. You do have a 57 and an AT4040 which can cover a lot of ground. I'd say either sell your C4's and get akg c451b's, or keep the C4's and get a Senn e609 silver, MD421...

    mic stand?

If you're on a budget the On-Stage Stands tripod boom stand is not a bad deal. They are affordable, and I've had about 10 in my studio that we've used for years, and they have yet to break. I've had similar stands by other manufacturers that absolutely sucked. No, the OSS stand is not going...

    cab micing??

Shure SM57 and the sennheiser e609 silver are pretty common choices and they usually sound great on cabs.

    Universal Audio SOLO/610

I've played with the M610 pre and it is not a bad unit. It is not terribly versatile, and unless you are combining with with something like the 1176 compressor in the 6176, I do not consider it a great value. IMO the Brick is every bit as nice sounding, and actually a little more versatile in...

I've been researching for a week and I just can't decide on a preamp

The advice about the BA API module is not bad. You can beat API or Brent Averill. I can't believe no one has mentioned the Groove Tubes Brick! I've tried all the pre's in the original post except the symetrix. The only two I would consider would be the MP20 (especially with a transformer...

    Tube mic or tube Pre.

I think that with the DMP3 and the RNP that you have a couple of decent preamps and you need to update your mic. Get something of good quality and that is versatile...something that you wouldn't sell even if you upgraded to really nice mics later. My suggestions are AT4040, AT4047, AT4050...

    Need drum overheads.

:D Good point! I don't know why I said AKG, but either way they are good mics.
