Greetings. I recently purchased my first pair of monitors (Event TR6s). I need to output my Vestax 05 Pro DJ mixer to the monitors. The Vestax mixer only has RCA outs. The TR6s will accept an unbalanced input. So here are my newbie questions: can I simply use single RCA cables from each...
I was once in the same boat. Started getting into software to record mixes and am now getting into beats. Check out n-track at www.fasoft.com for a solid and relatively easy to use multi-tracking software. And it's cheap for what you get.
I recently picked up Ableton Live to start working on...
I just installed the free update to Sound Forge Audio Studio and have not encountered any blips in applying effects. So far, so good. Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't run into the blips again. Thanks to all who chimed in.
Sorry, MadAudio, I was focused on making clear that I don't mess with pirated software. I did register with Sony (I "updated" my info through the software menu just to make sure) and I'm still having the "blips."
It's not pirated! I bought "Screenblast" Sound Forge for approx. $70 (from Amazon, I think), as opposed to the the "Studio" Sound Forge for $200+. It is a completely legitimate copy but just an "amateur" version.
I'll try customer support.
When I try to apply effects to samples in Soundforge I get high-pitched bleeps. Any idea why this is happening? It sounds like some kind of feedback. I don't understand why it's happening. Thanks in advance for any help.
Netflix has it if you subscribe. You should be able to buy it almost anywhere . . . turntablelab.com, sandoxautomatic.com, hiphopsite.com, and even at amazon.com (I think).
I bought it. I think it's worth renting if you can get it (Netflix?). It had its moments but I don't think it's worth buying. That biggie footage is straight heat though.
Anybody bought anything from this site: http://www.platinum-records.com. Have never heard of it but am considering buying something there. Please let me know if you have any experience, good or bad, with that site. Thanks.
Just getting my feet wet with Acid. I'm looking to pick up a couple of hip hop and/or drum libraries to get started. Any recommendations regarding "essential" drum libraries (e.g., I've heard that Big Fish Audio's Vinylistics is a must have for beats generally, though that particular library...
I know you asked about FS2, but I'm going to drop in my two cents and recommend Serato Scratch Live. I haven't personally used FS2, but I played with FS1 and though it was crap. After reading great reviews and talking with people I took the leap and got SSL. Keep researching. Check out...
I know a few of you out there use the Akai MPD 16. Forgive my ignorance, but I'd appreciate an explanation of how exactly it works (in general). I'm thinking about using it first and foremost for phrase samples for mixes, but would eventually (after learning how to use it) like to use it to...
Check out Wav Corrector: http://www.wavecor.co.uk/. I DJ also and I used it to break up my 70+ minute mix into 69 tracks. There is some standard interval that must be used to separate the tracks or you'll have problems burning it as a continous mix. The great thing about wav corrector is...
I'm surprised that no one has given you the standard responses yet: (1) download demos and figure out which one you like--try www.hitsquad.com; and (2) get n Track (it's cheap). I bought n Track b/c I"m new to this and it's very affordable. This stuff is addicting. Be prepared to spend a lot...
I replaced my porta 7 w/a computer. The biggest problem is learning about computers. That aside, there is so much more that you can do w/computer-based multitracking than w/tape-based. There's a steep learning curve for this stuff, but the people on this bbs are very helpful and friendly.

I am very new to all of this stuff so please bear with me. I think I have the basics set up, but I don't quite understand how to set up my preferences. I have an Audiophile 2496. In the preferences box, I don't know what setting to select (Asio, MME, etc.). The only time I...
