Good Microphone for French Horn (Brass Instrument) Recording

I'm sure there's a truckload of mics that will work but what are you planning to do with that french horn? When you hear recordings of orchestras they're generally done in some kind of good acoustic environment - concert hall or big studio room. You're not likely to duplicate that sound in a...

App to pitch bend a vocal without "chipmunk" artifacts?

I'm looking at the trial version of Melodyne - definitely does the job. However it doesn't seem to play well with my version of Soundforge as a VST plugin. It comes up but there's no waveform graphic. I've got Soundforge8.

Can someone advise how this Son Of A Pitch VST plug works?

Is this referring say to a pitch-bend wheel? Do you think you should be able to have it read off a midi track that has a pitch bend command?

Can someone advise how this Son Of A Pitch VST plug works?

The only "tutorial" I find online is useless, basically they just twiddle the knobs without explaining anything. What I'm trying to do is pitch bend a vocal in mid note. This app is referred to as a pitch bend but it's not clear to me how it accomplishes this. Trying to see if it will do it...

App to pitch bend a vocal without "chipmunk" artifacts?

I appreciate the gesture but undoubtedly I'll just pop for some software if I can't find freeware to do what I want. Actually my immediate need is just one note.

App to pitch bend a vocal without "chipmunk" artifacts?

Is there an app that will let you bend a vocal say as much as a whole step without changing the basic character of the voice? I've been trying it with pitch bend in Soundforge but the results haven't been what I'm looking for. Thanks.

    I need a new Condenser

There are many good mics you can get for under $300. Here's a Marshall MXL 990 sounding warm on acoustic guitar. Currently $79 with shockmount on special at Musician's Friend. You can hear it unprocessed as he's tuning then processed. Has to be one of the best bang/buck mics out there.

    I need a new Condenser

Seems like you have a really good mic already in that Sterling Audio. In this shootout it sounds pretty warm to me. If you're not getting similar results I'd look at other aspects of the environment and setup.

Beginner singer looking for feedback! Criticism welcome!

I don't think you're getting the most out of your vocal instrument. You need to put more energy into it. Also, it sounds like you're still getting the hang of things on guitar and it's holding you back. On the other hand there's no way to get better at the singing/guitar thing other than to...

Do you think I've got "it"? Wondering if I should pursue my passion for singing...

You have talent. The reality is so do a sea of others. I have no idea what you look like but the streets are paved with gorgeous, talented girls. If you're timid about singing in public there's a long line of those who aren't. Sure, you should follow your passion but be aware that no matter...

Can anything be done about clipping that isn't clipped?

If the clipping is downstream and the wave form doesn't actually display a flat-top clipped shape - i.e what you've got is essentially a recording of the sound of clipping, is there anything that can be done? For example...

How to clean velcro sounds from live audio - should iZotope RX3 be able to do this?

Lol.... Unfortunately the placement of the camcorder was determined by the configuration of the room and proximity to the singing group and the person just happened to sit near where I was already set up.

How to clean velcro sounds from live audio - should iZotope RX3 be able to do this?

Trying to remove the sounds of someone adjusting their velcro shoe straps during a performance. I've been trying the iZotope RX3 demo, so far with only so-so results, but it's likely I'm not getting the most out of it. Here's a sample. 48/16 file about 4 megs. Do you think iZotope should be...

Cover: Revolverheld - Ich lass für dich ein Licht an + question

Whether you get on one of those singing shows isn't necessarily about how good you are, a lot of it is what they decide they're looking for. For one thing, no matter how good you sing if you're not photogenic your odds go down dramatically. I'm sure a lot of good singers get turned away. That's...

Short Cover of "Because Of You" by Kelly Clarkson (Can I sing?)

Not too shabby actually. You absolutely have talent. I sense English isn't your native language? I'd work on your diction a bit but overall you do pretty well. Your pitch is decent which is a big thing. Who did the recording? It actually came out pretty well. Both.

Would you do analog recording ?

For fun, sure. The music for the movie "The Incredibles" was recorded analog - even if eventually it had to be transferred to digital. The producers felt analog gave a certain sound they wanted.
