Sonic Albert is right. Use a 1/4 cable from the BEH preamp to the mixer.

I did! I haven't gotten it yet. I need one more clean pre with higher gain structure than my firestudio can provide. I'm expecting the the pre73 to have a bit of color and im looking for a really clean sounding pre too. Excited about the pre73 though. Am I making any sense? :)

The instrument jacks on the firepod are DI's. I know what your saying about the thin sound. I ran my bass through a cheap tube DI and it sounded much better and thicker even the wave forms were larger in Cubase even though the db were about the same. I think the preamps in the firepod dont have...

vocals are very clear, they sit really nice and sound great. Not crazy about the snare sound though. The song sounds good though and seems to be fairly well glued together. Add some room to the snare maybe? good tune man, Josh

Got a new mix here. Im definitely gogin to re-do some vox. Hows this mix sounding? A lot of EQing (most if just re-qing more simplistically), compression changes ect.. I may have squashed the mix a little, or just the drums. You guys get that sense? New Mix dec 28th What do you think? Josh

Freudian Slip; the vocals were done pretty much like you outlined in your reply. I definitely will work on treating this room as well.

I understand phase characteristics and they relate to mic placement. I guess I did not think of it as a lack of low end. While my room is not treated w/ bass traps I think its more of a lack of good harmonics that add to the glue of the vocal track. I certainly will try some different placement...

I figured the hamburg for a decent mic. I have a few different mics. The room is 13x15 w/ 10ft partially vaulted ceiling the has about a 6 wide foot flat spot about the center of the room running the length, basic carpeted bedroom. I treated the immediate area around me/mic for HF reflections...

That preamp looks nice, but the List price has increased quite a bit in the last few years. Gone from 699 to 999. The original list is less than it sells for now. It seems like it could really fit what im doing, I just dont know if i can afford it. If I was to get something at least a good step...
