    Power amp tubes

Just to pick a nit, the axis of a speaker is a line out from the center of the dust cap perpendicular to the plane of the rim of the speaker. If your mic is between the dust cap and the edge of the speaker, it's not on axis. There isn't a music store with an amp repair department where you...

    if you had...

I've got an MTI era SVT with 8 10's. It sounds great but it never leaves my studio. I can't even stack the damn thing by myself.

    Removing acoustic guitar finish?!

I'd like to see one of the belt sander chewing its way though the guitar body and into the table below it. :laughings:

    Removing acoustic guitar finish?!

And be sure to use one of those coarse garnet belts on it, too. You'll be through that finish in no time! :D

Looking for help with pedalboard issue

Except for one thing - a friend of mine has a Valvetronix, and the on board envelope filter has the smoothest decaying, Jerry-like response I have heard since Estimated Prophet. I have had several of them and not one of them has sounded like that. I can't afford a Mutron. :^(

Truly? What do you do? I am in solar/renewable energy, so I deal with them a bit as well.

best portable/battery amp and classical guitar w/pickup

An AA has 2.5Ah @ 1.5VDC? I'm not doubting you, just surprised it's that high. EDIT: I checked and you are correct. 2500mAh.

    Eq pedals?

A common misconception about noise gates/suppressors is that they can somehow filter the noise out of your sound while you are playing. That's not what they do; you set a threshold, and when the input drops to that level, it turns completely off. A noise gate can be useful in silencing the...

    5 string bass question...

To each his own, but don't try to tell a 5 string player that he is not playing a "real" bass. Low end is not that hard to control, but if if you are struggling to control the E string, quite possibly a 5 string with a low B isn't for you. But speak for yourself; when I moved to a 5 string it...

No way. No string count is optimal for everyone in every situation.

I would hope that in the studio you would only play through the boxes that you plan to use in the song you are recording.

Well, if you go with a Furman board, you'll have the integrated 9VDC supply.

Help! I blew up my amp head.

There is no way to adapt a two conductor power cord to a three conductor one with an adapter at the plug end; the chassis needs to be connected to earth ground through a dedicated conductor. You can change out a power cord pretty easily. Get a 3 conductor replacement cord and connect the green...

There is no hard and fast rule, but I always put the compressor first.

Looking for help with pedalboard issue

One thing you might consider doing is getting a Furman board for all your compact stompboxes and outboarding your wah and the digital processor. They would fit in the carry bag on top of the stompboxes for transport.

Looking for help with pedalboard issue

That's the trouble with Velcro in general - the vel clings to the cro more strongly than the adhesive sticks to whatever it's attached to. My solution is to reattach whatever comes unstuck with stronger glue.

Looking for help with pedalboard issue

Furman makes some boards of different sizes with incorporated AC and 9VDC distribution. The one I use isn't big enough for all your toy... er, I mean tools, but they make larger ones. Mine has a zip up carrying bag with a shoulder strap for easy transport. Pedals attach with Velcro.
