Well, it's a shame that he doesn't know how to tune drums. My guess is that it is an 8 x 12 or a 9 x 12 cranked up way too much. You can't possibly expect a shell that large to resonate at the pitch in that recording. Only suggestion I can give is to point the mic more at the point of impact...

this recording could sooo benefit from real drums. Damn, I love this kind of stuff. You should send me the tracks and I'll add real drums if you did the music to a click.

if you don't want to spend the dough you should just record 8 tracks at a time to your computer. Just make sure with each set of 8 tracks you are sending a snare track as well. That way you can line up the second snare tranfer with the first and then line up all the second transfers...

if you were really worried about isolation, you'd get shure E2 earpieces for $75 with disposable foam if you have clients. NOTHING isolates better than in-ears if worn properly.

or even better, a pair of Shure E2 in-ear pieces.

i have a 2.0 celeron and also a computer with a 2.4 pentium 4 and I would never consider recording with the celeron. it's too damn slow for dreamweaver/fireworks/flash so i know it would be too damn slow for audio.

there ya go...get one of those and a cheap 8 channel adat interface (such as the broken adats i have on ebay heheh).

i feel your pain. I just love it when guitar players what "thick" tone with a peavey or crate and they want me to crank up 100hz 10 db. Just lovely.

you can still meter your channels by soloing the channel and refering to the master meter on most mixers.
